  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Buttons vs screens

Touch screens aren't as bad as you think. One thing that i have learned from having my Tesla model 3 is that there are somethings that really need to have their own dedicated physical button and there are some things that really don't. In my opinion there are 3 categories of functions; things...

Stop being politically correct with this electric crap!

The title of this thread is you tossing out insults. You were trying to bash people suggesting the 'only' reason to have an electric car is to be politically correct. The only thing everyone said was you need to do some research. I was the only one who tossed some very PG rated insults at you...

    Second Scout Teaser Image Released

I think these look great, but you can see the bumper goes much much lower. (don't get me wrong those look amazing i'm not criticizing your work)

From The History Archives: Where the Scout II Was Headed

Two things i really like from these sketches: - Look at all that glass surrounding the whole cabin! if it is one thing modern EVs lack is good rear visibility. - It looks like IH was already planning to slightly "unbox" the scout, i see subtle slope on the front grill and the windshield is...

Stop being politically correct with this electric crap!

With all due respect you came out of the gate with accusations and crazy claims. others have already politely expressed their desires for an ICE version or even a hybrid version and they did it with manners and grace. with that being said i hope we can civilly proceed from here. As far as...

Stop being politically correct with this electric crap!

It looks like you aren't buying one. What are you smoking? Political correctness? Do you know any about modern cars? 20-50 miles off road? Are you dumb? There are plenty of threads that show the rivian performing great for a 4 day camp up a mountain. And since you don't know anything a rivian...

If those aren't iconic 80s car designs then I don't know what is.

    Manual Transmission

This is a hill that I will die on.....for cost, weight, efficiency, maintenance, and everything..... manual transmissions do not belong on EVs it is an added weight and just introducing additional components that need maintenance and are likely to break or fail or worsen efficiency. A...

    A Tall Order

I think REI is somewhere in the middle. I'm not saying that it is literally LL Bean or bass pro shop....but when you look at marketing style rivian has much of the LL Bean catalog in their marketing events... ..and going to the spirit of the original scout it was marketed as the vehicle that...

    Door Handles

you would be surprised. while a traditional box front with a radiator is very UN-aerodynamic but when you introduce even a slight curve or even some air channels the front can be "fairly" aerodynamic. one EV start up called Aptera boasts that their whole car has the same drag coefficient as a...

Rivian MTGarage article in latest Motortrend

I would assume that those people didn't just let the rivian sit there for 4 days and didn't do anything with it. I'm going to assume that they ran the heater on occasion or they plugged in a heater into the 110v outlet in the bed of the truck to have heat. Or they ran other electric devices off...

    A Tall Order

From a cost/strategy perspective if there is enough demand for the 2 door variant then they might release it further down the line. However when you look at rough demand more people want a 4door suv. So for a new company it makes sense to prioritize what people will buy to repay the...

LED Lighting for the New Scout EV Vehicle

I am going to hope that they create some circle style headlight that will be as true to the origional design that they can with taking into account any new / updated safety laws/requirements. Unlike most EVs Rivian has had some round and oval style headlights that perhaps might be somewhat...

    powered frunk

Powered is nice but I agree it isn’t needed…maybe an option? One thing I think is needed, as I said in a different thread is to make sure there is a convenient frunk release located in the front of the vehicle…is there isn’t a convenient way to access the frunk it wouldn’t matter how it opens...

    Door Handles

The reason there are so many gimmicks is to make the handle as low profile as possible to Improve aerodynamics. Another reason that Tesla has electric door handles is that the window is slotted under the trim(also to improve aerodynamics) so the electric handle allows the window to retract a...

    Things to Avoid

This was designed as a safety feature so if you are alone you only unlock your own door to avoid someone rushing you and gaining access. Most vehicles have a setting to change this and allow you to “always unlock all doors”

    Dealerships Are Dying

The one big thing to consider is if the scout will be serviced by VW dealerships/service centers. If scout will be apart of VW group ideally the vehicles can be delivered to VW dealerships and that could avoid the need for additional infrastructure such as a building, exclusive staff and other...

    Manual Transmission

There was a Video that I watched recently about the off road performance of the rivian R1S and R1T. During the tests the guy noted one vehicle felt like it was pulling and the other felt pushing. One thing that might be an interesting implementation could be something similar to Tesla track mode...
