  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Dealerships Are Dying

Understood. All I can suggest is the knowledge we already know. Also one can have rough estimates and comparisons to how much fuel a vehicle uses on a trail when comparing the amount of the tank used instead of just talking about MPG. If a trail usually will use 1/4 of a fuel tank assumption...

    Dealerships Are Dying

I wish I could explain this in a way that will relief your range anxiety....but the honest truth is that there is nothing anybody can tell "you"(meaning anybody) that will relief range anxiety.....the truth is it is something you have to experience for yourself. I know that also isn't helpful...

    Dealerships Are Dying

the batteries aren't "weaker" they just hold less capacity. think of it like it as if your gas tank fills up with gunk over time. When you go to the pump and "fill up" it takes less to fill it up and the vehicle still registers as full, but there is less actually in the tank....so therefore it...

Hummer EV Breaks - This CANNOT Happen to the Scout

I am hoping that the new scout will be similar to other EVs in the VW group and have Apple/android car play support. this would mean that 3rd party software would not be installed into the main computer's systems. This will allow for apple/android to run the fun apps like spotify/waze or other...

Hummer EV Breaks - This CANNOT Happen to the Scout

I'm not sure if that is possible. The HVAC will likely also have to be used to heat or cool the battery coolant. It is unlikely for there to be more than one CPU in charge of the whole vehicle since all the systems will be interdependent, especially if there is going to be a central screen with...

    EV focused suggestions

All Modern cars have cameras. Not only are they invaluable for parking, and for having dash camera footage, but they have great uses for off road spotting too. I agree it could be an option, but at a minimum a rearview camera for parking....additional cameras for off-road spotting could be for...

Hummer EV Breaks - This CANNOT Happen to the Scout

how do you propose to have a failsafe or a back up? It is electric. What is the failsafe and back up to dropping a transmission or blowing a head gasket? If software fails how is the software supposed to have a limp mode? I assume that would be software based. I know what you are trying to...

Hummer EV Breaks - This CANNOT Happen to the Scout

The Hummer is the dumbest "EV" in my opinion. It has such a huge battery, it isn't effeciency at all and it just is worthless except being an extremely expensive flex. This whole video does not surprise me at all.

What do you want in an off-road spec

I think a skid plate to add extra battery/motor protection is a must for off road package Real front and rear tow hooks/D rings that actually hook into the structural frame Large nubby tires is also a good option for off road (be sure to warn of range loss) Suspension is key for off road so...

    Dealerships Are Dying

I think this can be tracked by the vehicle/account holder for the individual vehicle. This is a screen shot from my Tesla app, it tracks home/supercharger/free chargers and gives stats on it all. This is my statistics for this past year

    Third-Row Model

are you looking for a "full time" 3rd row seat or a "pop up 3rd row" I think a pop-up 3rd row can work within the likely wheel base (look at the R1S). However A full time 3rd row might require a much bigger wheel base. I personally would be interested in a pop-up 3rd row....allows for...

Some good news for those who worry about charging infrastructure

https://chargedevs.com/newswire/shell-to-acquire-ev-charging-network-volta-for-169-million/ This article is saying that Shell is aquiring the EV charging network of Volta. There are lots of Volta chargers around the DMV where I live .....but I think this could be the start of something bigger...

Rivian MTGarage article in latest Motortrend

Very well put. I explain this often to people when i explain how my road trips work. In any given road trip you will need to stop for bathroom breaks after about 2-3 hours usually. Often if you have an ICE vehicle you will pull up to the pump (maybe wait in line for 1 or 2 cars) then fill up...

    Buttons vs screens

Yes I imagine if you had a vehicle for 14 years it would be like an extension of their own hand.... It is also an impressive feat to have a car for that long The article you liked is lacking a bit of detail because it only mentioned that the study was done by a swedish website, but doesn't...

    Buttons vs screens

To be clear I don't think the "screen is the way to go".....I just feel I need to advocate for not making it have 1000 useless buttons. I just find it hard when people make claims that they don't have to take their eyes off the road to use a button because it is physical. These claims are...

    Buttons vs screens

I was given a blackberry for work and I absolutely hated it, the buttons were too tiny and my fingers ways would hit 2 or 3. I would hate to sound like a broken record but I've had this conversation often when people are complaining about screens and buttons especially when I first got my...

    Scout Design Team Feedback V1

I know my perspective is very different but these are my preferences: 1. Heat pump for HVAC 2. Removable roof (hard or soft options) 3. Exterior button for easy frunk access 4. Durable Interior Fabrics / materials 5. 60s style grill/headlight layout 6. Door handles with mechanical back up 7...

    Buttons vs screens

I think to piggy back on this thought of yours and to tie it into a different discussion we are all having in the other thread: While everybody can agree that the original design and spirit of the scout should be the base point the big difficult thing that the company has to do is to balance...

    Buttons vs screens

From what i understand VW's voice commands in the ID.4 are pretty good. I feel like a old man when i say that i never use voice commands and I would rather just click things myself lol.
