  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Preparing an EV for a winter storm...

Can you fit both vehicles in your garage? If so, that would be my suggestion. I really dislike having to clean large amounts of snow off cars. I have a 30' X 60' garage and my two classic cars (1965 Chrysler Imperial and 1974 AMC Javelin AMX) take up the far end spots. Last snowstorm, I had my...

Joining the EV gang while waiting for Scout!

I agree. Last year, I had a company car for a few months, a Prius plug-in hybrid. The first time I plugged it in to charge I discovered the plug was locked when I tried to unplug it. That was my first experience with a plug in car of any type, so I wasn't aware that some of them lock the...

    Home Charger Reviews and FAQs

^^^This There are 3 DCFCs in a neighboring town about 20 minutes from my house in an area that is on a different circuit from where I live so the likelihood of that area having an outage at the same time as my street/circuit is very low. Also, the area where the chargers are is a town center...

Vintage Scout Cross Country Road Trip

I think it could be a really great experience. You could film it for your YouTube channel. Have you ever watched Derek Bieri from Vice Grip Garage? He always goes and gets old vehicles running and drives them home usually several hundred miles, often breaking down and fixing the vehicle on the...

    Home Charger Reviews and FAQs

Some of the home battery systems on the market include inputs for integration with EVs and generators for charging the home batteries if needed. For example, one of the batteries that our company sells, the Franklin WH battery system offers an optional generator integration module that allows...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

Well, since the Scouts are geared toward the outdoor/camping enthusiast crowd, maybe they will have an option for a center console that converts into a firepit, but you have to get the cabana roof with that option to let the smoke out. Bring your own cordwood! :ROFLMAO:🔥

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

I wonder if that's referring to the Harvester models and they plan to capture waste heat from the engine to augment heating in the cabin? Did he specify if the "inventive" heating method would be on both BEV and Harvester models?

Welcome to the forum! As suggested, Plugshare is a great resource for locating charging infrastructure. I suspect you'll find that the charging networks are pretty robust in most areas, with the exception of a few western states like Wyoming and Montana

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

It depends on a few factors. 1. The outside temperature. 2. How high you set the temp on the vehicle's HVAC system. (This probably has the biggest effect on range) 3. Whether the vehicle's HVAC system is a resistive heater or a heat pump based system. Heat pumps are more energy efficient than...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

I took another road trip yesterday, this one was shorter than my recent trip to Boston and back. An old friend who lives in the Cooperstown area of NY and his buddy had put together a car for an enduro race at the Fonda Speedway in Fonda, NY on New Year's Day. About 20 years ago, my friend and...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

Sorry, I missed this question initially. I had 57% SOC when I got home. And, that actually answers the question of whether I could have made it home without stopping for that second charge session. Probably, but it would have been nervewracking. Looking back at my charge history in my Ford...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

I had my first real roadtrip with DCFC experience on Sunday and thought I'd share the experience here. I had to drive my sister and her daughter from their house in Western MA to the airport in Boston. The total trip to Boston then back to my house in Western MA is 263 miles and ABRP estimated...

I had my electrician install a manual transfer switch and generator inlet plug on my house. Using the V2L capability of the Lightning I have partial backup power during outages. The Lightning is one of the few EVs currently available that has a 240V outlet (if optioned properly) and using that...

When I got mine back in November, it was showing as sold out at first but I kept checking back and it came back in stock within a week or two. My vehicle (F150 Lightning) has a CCS1/J1772 port, but I got the Emporia Pro in NACS configuration to future proof since my next vehicle will almost...

I think you will. I'm so glad I took the plunge and bought my used Lightning in September. Absolutely loving every minute of owning it so far. No regrets whatsoever! Most incredible driving experience, and I've owned many cars, trucks, classics, muscle cars, etc.

8.5% NOW! At this rate, we might hit 10% by the 4th of July! I kinda liked the exclusivity when we were the 8.3 percenters.
