  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I keep it on, but only because I’m lazy.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Exactly. It’s as much about the driver as it is about the vehicle. Maybe more in some cases. And the intersection of driver & vehicle can also greatly influence the cost.

One of the reasons I use the app is that sometimes my vehicle responds to the plug-in event too quickly and starts charging before I’ve had a chance to activate my subscription. It would be nice if vehicles could securely hold your account information for the various subscriptions so P&C just...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Our insurance decreased when we traded our Golf Alltrack for the Mustang and again when we traded the Tacoma for the Lightning. These kinds of articles find a few anecdotes and use those to turn it into a claim that’s not necessarily accurate.

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

One of these days I’ll need to get a good camera and camera mount for vehicle vlogging. And an editor…

I regularly use EA when I travel. I don’t think EA sends out an RFID card. I’ve never used a card for any network. To get the EA subscription discount at a charger, these are my steps: Turn off any VPN on the phone; Open the EA app and find my location on the map; Select the correct charging...

I'm so uninterested in ai slop in my vehicles that this probably removes Rivian from my shopping list. It's already low because of cost and their war on the physical interface. The added ai trash pushes it even lower. It's too bad because their physical engineering is impressive. But ai can f...

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

Totally fair. Each person’s use-case will likely be different (and some people’s use-cases may include caring about appearance). The bed cap issue is one that is a concern to me. But it’s lower on the utilitarian weighting than other concerns.

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

Appearance is such a minimal input into my calculations that it might as well not matter at all. About the only thing appearance-related that matters to me is color and that’s as much practical as it is aesthetics. A black truck is not only boring, it’s also a huge heat sink and causes...

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

My partner was looking at vehicles the other day and thought to herself that what we could do is trade the Lightning for something… But we use the crap out of the Lightning as a work truck, camping truck, and overall utility truck, so a few things would be necessary to make it worth trading...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

A word of caution: Just because I can get EPA range while driving on the freeway doesn’t mean everyone can. I think I drive a little differently from a lot of people and have slightly different circumstances. I don’t often do hard acceleration. For example, I don’t rush to pass someone. I...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

Back on the road. Took a drive down from northern AZ to southern AZ. Tucson, to be specific. I started the drive with 100%. Decided I wanted to just be at the hotel, so didn’t stop. I arrived in Tucson with 18% remaining. After 15 minutes of gravel road and old, slow highway, I hit the...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

I may start a thread specific to efficiency changes with the trailer. I tend not to have the time to do full scientific analysis, so it will be imperfect. I’ve done a lot of trailer pulling through the desert southwest trails and never needed AT tread. High sidewall strength? higher-ply count...

I've had them enabled in the Lightning since we bought it. The hardware was there, but I had to go into the programming and enable it. Not something Ford is doing a great job advertising. It's almost as if they wanted the Lightning to "fail."

I didn’t watch the entire video, but the headline for it is a bit misleading. solid-state batteries have been mass-produced for years. They’re just not for BEV traction battery use. I know, it’s a quibble, but I think it’s important. People tend to think SSBs are mythological. They’re not. The...
