  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

How much more would you pay for a Launch Edition Scout

The Traveler has more reservations - so at a bare minimum I would production would prioritize them (more units made than the Terra). Same with the Harvester. I would expect them to prioritize them (more units made) than the BEV. The Harvester started development later and is more complicated...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

I suspect the Harvester gas mileage will be ok. It is lugging a heavy vehicle, it will be changing chemical energy to thermal, thermal to kinetic, kinetic to electrical, then electrical back to kinetic. But it should be fairly efficient at doing that, and Scout is apparently going for...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Manual control over the lights is something is a basic necessity. At least my auto headlights need to be overridden almost nightly. When I am on a back roads or off roads - I want high beams at low speeds. When I am in town, I need low beams regardless of the speed. I use night vision on my...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Times have changed - and it was a very long time ago that I got to be neck deep in a car dealers accounting books. The dealer add on's were where all the gravy was then. Lots of dealers where selling at prices based on invoice. Even at invoice, there was money to be made on the back side due...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

The Buzz (in one format or another) was teased by VW for more than a decade before they apparently got serious about it. Automotive press made a bunch of guesses that created speculation - then VW missed the boat completely by delivering what they thought people needed rather than what they...

BYD Shark PHEV Outsells Toyota HiLux in Australia

Not Sharks, but China was probably the top selling trucks in South Africa when I visited. Reason was simple-they were cheaper. It is alarming that the HiLux (which is a budget targeted Toyota badge) is that expensive. While I saw plenty of HiLux on my trip to South Africa - our host was using...

New Scout Video: Forging the Future - The Sound Of Scout

Just thinking how eerie it would be if one of the door chimes was Dualling Banjos... Of course, the seat belt sound of a squealing pig would be icing on the cake.

How much more would you pay for a Launch Edition Scout

We are still far enough out that we don't really know how Scout will do their initial delivery launch. The most that has been said is that production is scheduled for late 2027 and Harvester models will be delivered to customers in 2028. Oh and since the vast majority of reservation holders...

    Scout delayed??

Oh, it leads a few directions. Legacy western auto manufacturers are also probably fueling it - as they are behind the curve on EV's. Dealer's really don't want EV's either, presumably less revenue on repairs and maintenance.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I have not read every article - the but main one I saw about being over budget was SC on environmental projects associated with Scout's plant site (downstream remediation and wetland trades IIRC).

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

I don't know how the Bruder works - but I am betting it is via the air suspension. But a little more air in the rear, more weight forward. A bit more in the front, more weight will balance to the rear. I have an Airstream - I have inadvertently realized how you have water in your tanks also...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Vehicles may be different - but sales and delivery do not necessarily happen at the same spot - it depends on the contract. Scout could put an order center virtually anywhere that allows for direct sales. Hopefully they will not be forced to ship the vehicles to an out of state location to...

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

So it may not be a 5k loss anymore - but not necessarily no loss.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I guess charging to 100% will reset the drift - but not account for any lost capacity (which is a second issue).

Scout Traveler:: Electric Auto-Folding Side Mirrors

Just made me realize why my kids braces cost so much - it was in the back parking lot of the orthodontist - and the mirrors were folded up at a weird angle.

Scout Traveler:: Electric Auto-Folding Side Mirrors

I like towing mirrors - so having those retract and fold is very nice. Saw folding mirrors on a 911 - they did not look that great- and only save a couple inches.

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

Reminds me of a joke. Friends are friends when they say what body. Good friends say they have a spare shovel. Great friends say they own a backhoe. Or an infamous thread years ago on a user group, where the OP asked how to get blood stains out of a cheerleaders uniform and a couch. Never was...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

This one can be easy enough with programming. Allow the user to determine which doors unlock when you open the drivers or passenger door (via proximity key). It is frustrating with my F250. If I open the passenger door, all doors unlock, but if I open the drivers door - I have to reach in to...

Headlight & DRL Color Temperature Changed?

LED emitters produce a fairly limited spectrum of light. Color changing is done (as far as I know) by using by producing different spectrum emitters in an array and varying the intensity between them. Given that virtually most high power LED's now are multi emitter arrays - it is not difficult...

    Scout collaborating with researchers?

As part of VAG, and as a startup. I would suspect they are not spending a ton of money on research - but rather siphoning tech from the rest of the group. Honestly, it is/was part of an old problem within VAG. Legacy bred a culture where each brand in the group wanted their own independent...
