  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    BEV Delay

Fear sells clicks. Plus I suspect there reason for competition to get people to give up and buy something already in production. That said, even thought the Terra BEV has the lowest reservation rate - Scout has not said anything official about delaying its production.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Kind of funny - I don't think I ever purchased a vehicle from a company that had an extreamly limited color choice. Seems to be a newer thing - especially a newer EV company thing. But I do know that car companies are extreamly good at market segmentation - a trick of extracting every last...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Towing capacity is about more than torque and thermal capacity. Just because a vehicle can move something does not make it safe to do it at highway speeds. If you have ever towed with a short wheelbase vehicle, you understand. My wife's diesel jeep has a lot of tug - but the tail will wag the...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Per a quick google, Tesla 150kw charging stations split power between stalls. So people park at every other one out of convince, speed and etiquette (as generally adjacent stalls are the ones splitting power). I want to charge as fast as possible, I don't want to be that person who slows down...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I guess which chargers are available depends on where you are. Just googled it for Texas. More than 1/2 the DC fast charging stalls in Texas are Tesla. If you break it down, Tesla has 10x the number of stalls of the next largest provider. The only thing really missing is Level 4 chargers...

Jet sounds so much cooler than ducted fan. But they still really need a next gen battery too (I read too much on the internet - but there are some promising techs that might do it soon) - just as axial flux motors are getting some really good power to weight ratios (1000bhp (5 second peak)...

    Home Charger Reviews and FAQs

Electrician is probably not too mad about my crazy extra wiring requests (only because they are billing me for all of it)-only real problem is if I use them all, will need a 400amp service... I had them ruin a 10kw wire to the master bathroom (it could handle an inline electric water heater), 2...

Realistic TTM date for traveler BEV?

2 issues - will the development be ready. Given it was started first and it is ultimately simpler - I don't worry about development that much. The second is simply demand vs ramp up production capacity. Initially, they will have lot of orders and they will take time to fill. It will...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Virtually all vehicles show diminishing range with speed. It becomes partly an accounting problem. Cost/Benifit. Most vehicles will go longer on a tank at 15mph than 75 - but we are willing to pay for the extra gas to get to our destinations 5x as quickly. I seam to recall different studies...

Poll: Would you use a Scout configurator tool if pricing and details are not finalized yet?

I guess it depends on the definition of per-production. At some point, there will be assembly line vehicles being put into the wild for testing-before the start of full production. Those tests will probably be conducted primarily by Scout employees or by testing companies for Scout (I don't...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Third row, 2 door, removable roof are all concepts that have traction on the forum. Not sure if removable doors has been mentioned - but to me it goes hand and hand with a removable roof.

Flat Tow capability to beat Jeep

IIRC, some Ford trucks are easily flat towed - but size comes into play. They are big and heavy - not necessarily what you want to tow all the time behind an RV. Towing a heavy EV might have similar issues.

    Offering diesel

I generally like diesels - in the right situations I think they are superior. That said, they don't shoe horn into all situations. The main problem I see is VW will not be making any diesels for the US market till hell freezes over. FWIW I like my VW diesel. I have had not diesel related...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I always look at 350 miles as the target. The real question for me is how well they will achieve it. 350 miles on a perfectly flat test track with perfect weather conditions - or 350 miles in real world conditions (including hot and cold - especially hot for me).

    Key Fob question

I never really worried about loosing my keys when kayaking. The key was fastened to a D-ring, inside a pocket in my PFD. About the only way I was going to loose it was to loose a PFD I was wearing, and that would only happen in situations that are worse than loosing the key. FOBs on the other...

    R2 Launch Watch

As for 10 minutes I can make a pretty quick bathroom brake. Sadly - that does not help the fact I really hate Rivian styling - and I am not lying about that. I don't want one if you gave it to me. It could be a perfect vehicle - and I still could not get over the styling. Ok, maybe I could...

Not saying the showman has not had some failures (and some projects have certainly gone over his overly optimistic time budget) - but he is putting more tonnage into space than every other company and nation on this rock. Starship is a big step forward, but not long ago people were thinking...

FWIW - VWAG also has International... I guess one of the only real problems there - I suspect state dealer laws require dealers to service what they sell (I think that was one of the prime reasons we got dealer laws in the first place). I doubt International wants to service consumer vehicles.

    Delivery Options

Used to kayak a bit (which is to say, multiple times a week for about 8 years). Kayaking on the pickup trip - kind of interesting, but simply not practical for me. I don't need a new boat (really don't need a new boat, absolutely certain I don't need a new boat - yes, that never worked before...
