  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

February 2026 Scout Production Center Update

Same here. I'm a smidge shorter (6'1" on the dot, without shoes). I won't buy anything as a family vehicle that I can't sit in behind myself, without feeling comfortable. The third row of the Ioniq 9 is tight, but I did confirm before buying it, that I could sit in the 3rd row, "behind" myself...

    Higher Range

The real issue is that EPA range != highway range. But people (the general public that is, not anyone here) hear that, and think that is the guaranteed highway range. I do think that is a problem. As if a vehicle doesn't meet your expectations when you bought it, people get frustrated fast...

    Off-topic stuff…

This. Leica is... not cheap. As a side note (as this is off topic). Man, gas prices. Not that I "care" tons, because we're on a PHEV, and full EV for our primary driving. But, just been keeping an eye on it because its interesting. I gassed up on February 27th before I went snow camping in...

How much more would you pay for a Launch Edition Scout

I'm the opposite here. Not trying to sound rude, but I don't want the price of a VIP tour/banquet to increase the price of my vehicle. Personally, I don't see that as a value add, I see it as a value decrease (costs me time, and money, a lot of it... like a week, as I'm like 2500 miles away)...

Headlight & DRL Color Temperature Changed?

Oh, yes, was it Rolls, or Maybach who did this? I remember seeing a luxury brand that did this recently. Micro LED's in the headliner, and all the stars. Was pretty cool, but... not in my price range :).

Headlight & DRL Color Temperature Changed?

I mostly just had to have an opinion, because I figured... it would be funnier :). In reality, 3600k, and 4000k are so close, most people would have a hard time telling the difference. So I had to say something dramatic... that was actually almost the same, for the lolz. I feel J and I "know"...

Headlight & DRL Color Temperature Changed?

Whoa. We are worlds apart here. Like, WAY different. I really like 4000k :P. (at least for general interior lighting. Not so cool to feel cold/uninviting, not so warm to feel "yellow"). TBH, I've never actually thought tons about what color temperature I'd want for the Scout. 3600k...

    Higher Range

My Ioniq 9 has 5k miles on it right now. And our average efficiency is ~2.9 miles/kwh. My buddy has an identical model, with 6k miles on it, and they have a lifetime avg of 2.7miles/kwh. Given that the Ioniq 9 is on street tires, is lower to the ground, lighter weight (likely, it has a smaller...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

The big upside with the V2L, is... that its easier for my wife to do it. Given, I WFH, so I'm almost always around. But V2L for us involves opening the frunk, plugging an adapter into the charge port, plugging cable into adapter and the manual transfer switch, and turning on the right circuits...

How much more would you pay for a Launch Edition Scout

To be honest, this is where my head is at right now. I was doing the same math earlier, and I really, really think its most likely that we're going to see launch editions around $80k. With the cheaper trims coming later. And, I do suspect that there could be some extra options thrown in for...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Definitely not something I did on the regular. But was a useful trick to know when offroading, and riding dirt bikes. Once the clutch linkage for my buddies CJ5 broke while we were wheeling, so shifting without the clutch became the only option for a bit. Also one time dirt biking, had a...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I think the I3's design is... fine, but man, the range, and other capabilities look bang on. Including the price. If all of the next gen EV's do this, its going to be a big deal. I'm also sitting here feeling jealous that they have V2L support that does 3.7kw. I love that our Ioniq 9 can do...

    Off-topic stuff…

If the axle is just stopping "randomly", it sounds like the ring and pinion might be missing some teeth/not meshing correctly. A shop should be able to rebuild it. I haven't checked pricing lately, but back in the day (20 years ago) it was like $500-1000 for new ring/pinion + labor to install...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Sure, just my once quarterly rant on MPGe :P. FWIW, the MPGe of the harvester should be fairly equivalent to the BEV, while its in EV mode. But in combined mode, yeah, it will be much less efficient. And thats really the draw right? I don't know what the EPA test cycle is for PHEV's and...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Mpge is sort of a messy metric IMO, and actually is more confusing to most people that I talk with, than it is helping. I avoid it at all times. Its really trying to show how efficient electric vehicles are, but its also sort of comparing apples to oranges. Here is what I mean: We're used to...

Scout Concepts in Scottsdale, Arizona, April 25, 2026

Hmm. I'll have to see if my Father wants to go check them out. He'd say he's not really in the market for one, but I did think about getting him a reservation at one point, as I think the Harvester Terra would be right up his alley. My parents have had the same 2002 (maybe 2003?) F150...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

As a side note, while I am generally still wanting manual control of my headlamps (even though I do use auto more now than I did in the past). I have found that I like the auto-highbeams feature on my Hyundais. I live away from town a bit, and the roads up here have no street lights. So high...

    Off-topic stuff…

Wouldn't be surprised. The Ioniq 9 (and Telluride/EV9 for that matter) absolutely do have power folding seats on the higher trims. Although, they could easily be different as well. But the older model Palisade and Telluride also had that on the higher trims, and no such issues, so maybe its not...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

I have a buddy who skipped a purchase on a vehicle (updated Chevy Colorado IIRC), because they removed the headlight control, and burried it in a menu. So its totally a thing that people care about (at least some). I'm also in that camp. Auto works fine-ish, until it doesn't. And when it...

    R2 Launch Watch

Perhaps surprisingly, I don't disagree with much of that, and tried to indicate as such in my post. Its not a problem that the R2 isn't a rock crawler. As you say, 99% of people won't ever be doing this, and a vehicle that could articulate like that, isn't a great daily driver (been there, done...
