  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

This is me as well, have had a couple of Wranglers and now a Bronco and I love the look of the fire carrier, it a backpack could be helpful for a hockey family on a tournament road trip. Decisions, decisions.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

😱 Not even the barbecue? I am not a fan of either lamb or sausage and I have to admit that they do both pretty darn well. In my opinion, you go to Eastie for the copious and delicious foods of the Americas these days, anyhow. 🤤 There are some pretty great Colombian places, not to mention the...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Meh, I had Santarpio's shoved down my throat all the time. Grew up less than 5 min walk from there. Sauce was super sugary.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Let's have some 😊 When and where do you sleep? Answer: When I can. Usually between hockey practices, errands, and pretending I know what I’m doing as an adult. It may well be that the Harvester is the right choice for you… That’s where I keep landing. My house is older, the panel’s already...

Bova's, but Bova's before everyone found out about Bova's. And The pizza place at the start of Salem St., Ernesto's is > Regina's. There are your Townie Medic's Tourist Destinations.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

@Scoutsie Appreciate that, tone definitely gets lost online. Different realities, same truck. 👍What part of Boston? I grew up in Eastie around the same time and lived in the North End for a bit when I got older.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

This isn’t hypothetical travel for me. I put about 88,000 miles on my current vehicle in 4 years, roughly 22K a year. I drive a lot, and most of that time I’m on the road or parked at hockey rinks. Home for a couple hours, then back at it. Nightly home charging works great if your vehicle sits...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

@Cranky Canuck I get what you’re saying, and I know most EV owners charge at home that works great for a lot of people. My situation just isn’t that simple. I don’t reliably come home every night because of 24-hour shifts, and I spend a lot of time parked at hockey rinks and tournaments with...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

@Scoutsie I never said there are no chargers in Massachusetts. I said they’re not where I actually spend time day-to-day. Home charging helps, but it doesn’t solve 24-hour shifts, winter driving, or hours at hockey rinks and tournaments without charging access. My schedule isn’t a straight line...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

The point of the thread was to see what would make me switch. Sharing what works for you and trying to talk me into it isn’t going to change my mind. Yes, home charging helps, but it doesn’t solve my use case. I work 24-hour shifts without charging access, spend a lot of time at hockey rinks and...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Thanks for the explanation. I appreciate it. I’m not anti-EV, but with 24-hour shifts, winter driving, and tons of time at rinks without chargers, pure electric doesn’t fit my reality yet. If charging existed where I actually spend time, I’d reconsider. Until then, the Harvester makes more sense...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

@oldgeeksguide When I leave for the day, I’m gone, multiple towns, rinks, winter driving, and no ability to leave the vehicle at a charger. If charging existed at places like rinks or school lots where we actually spend time, I’d seriously reconsider. Until then, the Harvester setup fits my...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

@R1TVT I appreciate the perspective. For my situation, rural routes, winter driving, and multiple daily stops, the Harvester setup fits my needs better right now. The thread asked what would get me to change, and that’s honestly where I’m at.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Honestly not sure yet. It’ll depend on the electrical setup and install cost. Home charging would help, but with my back-and-forth between towns and rinks in winter, it doesn’t fully solve the mid-day charging reality out here.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

@R1TVT Charger maps look great zoomed out. Real life in central MA looks different. We’re not driving straight lines across the state. We’re rural routes, dealing with winter range loss, and needing reliable fast charging, not a Level 2 with three other cars waiting. It’s getting better, but...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

A Yet nothing close to where I live. Or my way to work. Maps are cute, but don't reflect the reality of the entire state. The clusters you see are major metro areas, but people forget about the more rural areas. Cool to.see.on highways, what about in between.
