  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

Yep, this is the method I’ve settled on using so far. Plug in, open app, find charger, click “start charge”, and away we go. Yep, this was it. Super remote charger, tiny town (a one gas pump at a general store sort of place), and no internet reception. I bit the bullet and went ahead and...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

If I can do my first ever public charging sessions on a 850 mile road trip, without a co-driver/navigator, then I have a lot of confidence that pretty much everyone can make it work :P. If anyone has any questions for this newbie, let me know. Oh. And the $7/month Electrify America...

https://insideevs.com/news/797244/rivian-apple-carplay-obsolete-ai/ I 100000% disagree with Rivian. I don’t want to talk to my vehicle for basic tasks. I’m not opposed to better voice recognition. I just don’t want that to be the primary interface. I dont want have to interrupt a...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

Oh, totally. I think I would get more comfortable rolling into stops with a bit less range in reserve, as I get more experience. Especially if I was driving single routes more continuously (just like my parents had preferred gas stations on certain routes we drove more frequently). But given my...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

Busy week, but found some spare time as the kids got sick and we're taking a day off away from family to recover/not get them all sick. Some thoughts, in no particular order: Highway range with our 106kwh usable battery on our Ioniq 9 was somewhat underwhelming, at least at speed: I don't...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

Well. I did it. Left way later than intended, had one charging related almost issue, and arrived after 2am local time. But based on my math, it was 1-2 stops more than we would have done in our PHEV, and 1-1.5hrs longer (15hrs total time). Pricing was roughly equivalent to driving a...

Thanks for the support everyone. In terms of trip prep, today I went to the local electrify america. I downloaded the app, signed up for the membership account ($7/mon, 25% discount per kwh), and did a short test charge, to make sure It all worked (it did), including the CCS1 adapter. It was...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

Well, update here. We had planned on doing a road trip this summer (like usual), and have been trying to decide which vehicle we take (Ioniq 9 BEV, or the Tucson PHEV). With gas prices going up, all of a sudden the choice was one that wasn't as clear cut as we thought int he past. Well, this...

Got mine on... Saturday maybe? Its been a blur lately, so lets go with Saturday.

This stuff gives me the heebiejeebies (misuse of data and the hacking of "legitimately acquired" sensitive data). My internship was in internet/network security. Since then I've worn a bit of a tinfoil hat. Not in the crazy way, but more the "uh... I've seen too much of what actually happens"...

    Scout Gift "Unboxed"

Wait, what? So this is an entirely separate Scout gift? A trail book? My head has been quite firmly in the sand, as I had no idea this was happening.

    A less screen, focused layout

In theory I'm ok with this. An HDMI port, or USBC cable input could work for this, just like the 3.5mm Aux input I have on my CD player in my jeep (and yes, it was aftermarket, it didn't have a CD player from the factory :P), but more modern. The problem is that this is likely not legal, at...

I hear you there, and no offense taken at all. I've not been following this for 15 years, but I have been for 6 years or so. And it just seems to me like the rate of discussion, and the relative "seriousness" of the announcements have increased. And that the announcements have changed somewhat...

A place to put your physical media CD and DVD player

I still use Pandora as my primary music streaming service (the free version). I've never even used Spotify, or Apple TV, or others. I do have a fair number of CD's, but even in my Jeep that still has a CD player... I don't hardly use them. I almost always stream music via bluetooth adapter. And...

Agreed here as well. I wasn't meaning Doughnut, or other things like that. Just referencing things like Nissan, Mercedes, and other brands that are actually out there testing vehicles, and other brands like QuantumScape, Solid Power, or Factorial Energy, that are already providing sample...

I will say, the talk about SSB does seem to be increasing. Still 2 years away of course. But more and more companies are starting to show similar timeframes. It really does seem that the industry is aligning around ~2030 or so as a potential first time we really start seeing them. Not...

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

That said. I love voice texting. I use it constantly. Probably my most commonly used piece of tech in the vehicles. "Text my wife that I'm on the way home from mountain biking". "Oh yes, of course I can stop on the way home to pickup a gallon of milk" Stuff like that. Totally love it.

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

Also. Voice commands mean... you need to be able to speak. I know this sounds obvious, but, speaking... isn't always easy, or desired. IE, If a conversation is going on, you have to interrupt it, just to change the temperature setting. If you're road tripping with your little kids in the...

    Bench or Bucket Seating Poll

Sure, I hear that. I'm operating under the assumption that the center bench seat will have a functional console when the seat is folded down and not in use. Which means that the phone charger/cupholder/etc situation will be "annoying" for those times, but in my case, the 6th seat is not really...
