  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

This sounds like bad programming, not a reason for an extra button. What if you leave the seatbelt plugged in? I think one of these is in your future: https://oemextenders.com/products/mini-seat-belt-extender-extension-for-2014-2026-gmc-sierra-1500

Congrats on the new rig. If I was buying a full-sized EV truck right now it would be the Silverado, hands-down. I do want to dig into the above more as I am planning to get my son an Equinox EV later this year and want to understand GM's implementation... In my Tesla, if I come to a stop and...

    Minimizing complexity

Interesting thought. I also do not plan to hard offroad my Scout and have never had lockers on a vehicle. We don't know what trim levels they plan to have - they could have a Rubicon-level trim with the lockers and such and leave them out in other trims. Depends on what the axle vendor...

    Colors

My 12 year old daughter already wants a BEV Wrangler (her Mom had a YJ when she was 16) and then doubled her desire when they came out with the factory purple color. She really hopes she can still get a purple one in 2029.

    Minimizing complexity

That's totally fair. I just come from the Tesla Model S and Model X world where we were told that they were "luxury" vehicles but were not adorned with frilly stuff and were actually quite spartan inside. I was trying to contrast with the more utilitarian direction that some have expressed...

    Minimizing complexity

Agreed. There a ton of things that are simply expected these days and are included in even the most basic Corolla. keyless entry (fob and phone options), powered windows and seats, auto-dimming mirrors, etc. Heck in my MXP all of the doors are powered. I am REALLY going to miss the car...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

4 years into my MX Plaid, outside of introducing new people to the thrill, I no longer accelerate rapidly just for the sake of accelerating rapidly. However, I definitely find myself taking the power for granted such as passing on a 2-lane, being first at a stoplight that has 2 lanes that merge...

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

I do not believe that 0-60 will be affected. As you said, cell discharge rate affects the 0-60 and that is primarily based on cell chemistry (thermal mgmt only comes into play if you try to make repeated 0-60 or 1/4 mile runs). Thermal management is what is limiting the towing which is...

    Reservation order

Way too early to even guess. Plus, even if you knew your exact "place" in line, we have no idea what Scout will product and when. They have said they will start with Harvesters. How many of each model will they do before BEVs? After that will they batch by type of roof, type of wheel...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I did not read the article but I do not think that is super unique to EVs. It has more to do with their use of aluminum vs steel, larger castings vs subframes, and generally being more expensive vehicles. The first 2 on that list are becoming more common on all vehicles as aluminum is lighter...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Our Tesla Model S and Model X has them - same tech as the auto-dimming rear view mirror. As @mrgold35 said they are nice, especially around here with some many people lifting their trucks and SUVs but never adjusting the aim of their headlights.

    Cross Shopping

At least in the Tesla you have to press a button on the steering wheel to cause the car to "listen" to you. You do a quick press and it calls up the standard voice command interface, if you do a long press it connects you with Grok (Elon's AI chatbot) that can do more complex things. I hate...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

Using the app worked for @Logan most of the time but he reported at one charger there was no cell service so couldn't access the app.

Idk all of the dates for the R1S but I recall that when Car and Driver tested the first gen they said the suspension was horrible compared other the R1T. But when the 2nd gen came out they made a huge improvement. As for the UI, that's also what is driving me away from Tesla and towards Scout...

Digging around on the Net it seems that EA does NOT issue RFID cards. They expect you to use the NFC feature on your phone. Here's an excerpt from their website: https://www.electrifyamerica.com/mobile-app/

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

Thanks for the write-up. Efficiency REALLY goes down in an SUV above 70mph, regardless of propulsion. Slowing down may have saved you a stop and actually got you there in a shorter time, even though it feels slower. As you get more experience you will be more comfortable rolling in with a...

Harvester - assumptions vs. reality - seeking to know more

I am going from memory but I think it's in the old Jay Leno video with Scott, he said that you will be able to choose how you want the system to run. You can tell it to use electric as much as possible (EV mode) so it will wait until a very low SOC before firing the engine, you can have it keep...

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

This is shocking to me. This implies that Rivian is doing a LOT of traction control interventions. I am really curious to know if this is normal or something unique to your rig or driving style. My MXP is tri-motor so it can adjust power left-right on the rear using power and not brakes. I'm...

    R2 Launch Watch

The main thing that attracts me to Scout is their commitment to having real buttons for the repetitive stuff but not going full Porsche. The lack of physical controls is why I am leaving Tesla after 16 years. I think Rivian has hewn too close to Tesla in this regard. I also think the Rivian...

Interview with Ryan Decker, VP of Strategy and Brand, Scout Motors

I've always called it SAE or Metric. Unfortunately, that ship has sailed. I'm 99.9% confident everything on the Scout will be metric. As @THil08 said, the Harvester will be a VW unit so definitely metric. They may also use other parts from VW's bins to save money and certification time...
