  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Generator + Solar integration

I don't know what to tell you. As I said, I think the EPA screwed up by allowing the use of a manufacturer-chosen factor but they did and so here we are. That being said, you're not going to get EPA range in your ICE if you drive fast or through bad weather. EPA range is what it is - it is a...

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

Got it. Yeah, I generally build playlists before I go so I can just roll from one to the other. I'm not a fan of self-driving but I will use it for short periods when I need to fumble with my phone to queue something up.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Yep! That's me in 2010. Elise chassis was never meant for that much weight (it understeered like crazy) but it was still super fun. Put 70k miles on it over 12 years before getting my Model X Plaid.

    Harvester Towing

I don't think we know that. We know that it is a series hybrid but that's all we know. Wouldn't they be able to increase efficiency if the Harvester provided power directly to the motors thereby avoiding extra AC/DC conversions?

    Harvester Towing

I don't trust GenAI as far as I can throw it. AFAIK the motors are the same on both models so that right there is BS. We do know that Scout is working as hard as they can to maximize the towing capability of the Harvester models. As I've heard said, there are no solutions, only trade-offs...

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

I've never used the Libby app for audiobooks but can't it be controlled via the bluetooth audio controls? I often listen to Youtube podcasts in my Tesla and I just choose bluetooth audio and can control everything from the steering wheel. I can pause/play, jump forward and backwards chapters...

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

Volvo tried this and it flopped. It was called "Care by Volvo." It was effectively a regular lease that included insurance and maintenance (negligible for EVs obviously but the program covered all of their models) that you could cancel after 5 months with no penalty. I picked up an XC40...

    Generator + Solar integration

What is this "stuff" of which you speak? As I said, it is trivial to make a long range EV - just throw batteries at it. But that dramatically increases cost. See also: Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, Silverado. Scout is trying to hit a certain price point and so they cannot just throw batteries at it...

    Generator + Solar integration

Let me start by saying that I agree with you. Tesla is the worst when it comes to overpromising range. I also disagree with the EPAs formula for calculating range that lets the manufacturer choose a "factor" that let's them put their thumb on the scale. It should be a controlled, single...

Design it to last 20 years

No different than replacing the engine in an ICE. EV motors don't fail or wear out. The batteries will, although if they are taken car of they will last a very long time, exactly the same as an ICE.

    Higher Range

It's a question of cost. That 410 mile R1S starts at $91,000. I only see 2 options for the Gravity and the highest range (407 mile) option starts at $98,000. There is no magic wand that someone can wave to get 400+ miles for $60k - it's simply not possible. The base R1S is $77k for 270 miles...

    BEV Delay

So much of it will depend on what their suppliers can deliver. Scout is going to build whatever configurations get the highest number of vehicles built in the shortest amount of time. If they are constrained on battery cells they will build more Harvesters. If they are constrained on engines...

    Lexus RZ chronicals-by my wife

I'm guessing that you have a good idea of how long you can drive after the low fuel light comes on as well as how accurate the "miles remaining" display is in your Jeep? It's the same in an EV. In the beginning you will fill up constantly, and then push it further as you get comfortable. Like...

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

Thanks Jamie. I meant to add that I was reading between the lines of your post. I also know that the team is doing everything they can to increase the tow rating of the Harvester as that is such a quoted number in the truck world.

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

I can't speak for the OP but I recall in one of these threads about the Harvester towing capacity and the Davis Dam test, I made the assumption that the problem was tongue weight due to the location of the engine. Jamie chimed in that passing the Davis Dam test was more about managing thermal...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I am confident that Homelink will be included on the Scouts. Now I may get thrown out of here for saying this but I really like having the Homelink buttons on the screen. I know, but stay with me for a second. In my Tesla, the car knows the GPS location where the Homelink was programmed. It...

    AI In Scouts 2027

Yeah I'm going to need some actual references for this that aren't from the Ancient Aliens Guy. In order to "track" a receiver, that receiver must transmit back to something. I have a Garmin 12XL GPS unit from the 90s that I use when backpacking. I am 99.99% sure that unit is not transmitting...

    Cab Options

Mixing politics into your purchasing decision is fraught with danger and IMO a recipe for frustration and paralysis. You highlight Volvo as an example of goodness. You know who owns Volvo right? I'd take Bezos over the PLA but that's just me. I leased an XC40 Recharge while I was waiting for...

    AI In Scouts 2027

Wait, wut? GPS is a one-way technology. There is nothing in a GPS guidance system that "reports" your location. Now, other systems in the vehicle may report your GPS location but the GPS itself cannot do so. The key difference with this new law is that government workers will be able to...
