  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

There are so many variables with insurance it is hard to compare apples to apples. I pay $157/month for my 2022 Tesla Model X Plaid (I'm with USAA). @cyure I can't imagine the Scout being more than the Rivian. Rivians are $$.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

If this is your first EV you are about to change your behavior. Preconditioning will be become automatic and is a game changer. That way the car is already halfway to defrosted by the time you get out there (and using shore power to do so so no range decrease). But without preconditioning...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

-<sigh>- Around and around it goes..... As I said back on page 1 - Scout is following the path of Tesla and Rivian, the only successful new car companies in the US in like 100 years. Start with the high margin vehicles first to start paying back the immense amount of debt that they have...

    Snowstorm 2026

We got ~6" here in NE Oklahoma. Luckily it stayed really cold so no ice. It's rare to get more than a dusting here so everything has shut down for the past 2 days. Kids may go back to school tomorrow. We don't get enough snow to have a plow so yesterday I taught my son how to use the loader...

    Solid State Battery that's baked

Your definition of "deployed" and "baked" are different than mine. A quick Google search said they are aiming for a 2030 production debut. They are doing road testing but it's been maybe a year which IMO is not baked. I am confident that Scout and other manufacturers will use the battery tech...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Oh good grief. Your ignorance knows no bounds. Why have American Corporations shipped so much manufacturing to China, Mexico, etc over the past few decades? Lower wages (costs in general). I asked ChatGPT what autoworker salaries are in China and the US. CountryTypical Median Frontline...

    EMF

Back in 2010 when I bought my Tesla Roadster, I had a tin-foil hat friend tell me the same thing. He actually had some kind of gizmo that measured RF (no idea on the details, what frequencies, etc). He came over and we went for a drive. He was actually surprised at how little EMF there was...

    SCOUT TRAVELER FAQ

IIRC the requirement started in 2019. My last 2 cars made those sounds though my wife's 2018 does not. I despise them. However, in both of my cars, shortly after I purchased them I went over some rough railroad tracks near my house and they stopped working. I do like that Chevy had both a...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Good grief. Are we still arguing about this? To the OP, you are no longer discussing in good faith. You are a Troll. You do not understand inflation, economics, manufacturing, or really much of anything as far as I can tell. You are just throwing a tantrum like a 2 year old. Boo-hoo I want...

    Custom External Sounds

For some reason whenever I get a new car, the first time I hit the really bumpy railroad tracks near my house that external speaker stops working. One of these days I'll remember to schedule the service. 🤷‍♂️

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Ok, you are fully into fantasyland now. I'm getting the feeling that you have a lack of understanding of how the world works. What is it that you do for a living? It took Tesla 15 YEARS to be able to make a $45k EV. Why so long? They had to pay for the tooling, the robots, the factories...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

It's not just cars. Prices for everything have skyrocketed. It's called inflation. The largest cost in an EV is the battery pack. China can make cheap batteries because they literally dump all of the toxic waste into the river. Scout can't do that so their prices will be higher. Last thing...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I respectfully disagree. Further, I will say that while you may respect the value of a dollar, you do not know just how much the value of the dollar has been destroyed in the past few years. Look at this chart: 2019 Average New Car Price in ounces of gold: 26.56 (using 2019 average price of...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I'm glad we're still talking about this. I am starting to search for a car for my son and recently test drove an Equinox EV. GM has gotten rid of the start/stop button (BMW has also removed it starting this year) but there is an always-visible button on the left side of the touchscreen to turn...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

One data point I can share, as someone who has been driving EVs since 2010, long before DCFC was a thing, is to not forget about RV Parks/Campgrounds. They have 240V/50A plugs and were our go-to before there was DCFC. Yes, no one wants to do what I did and bring a lawn chair and a book and sit...

Cruise Control Following Distance (and other assists)

Teslas do this. I ABSOLUTELY hate it. Because it waits until the absolute wrong moment to slow down and it unsettles the car. Then I have to press on the accelerator when then causes another weight shift. Stupid, stupid, stupid. @R1TVT, if the Rivian is in Cruise Control (not with steering...

    12v Battery: Not an afterthought

Tesla did the second one with the original Roadster. It ended up causing problems with premature degredation of those cells and difficulty keeping the overall pack balanced. When I bought my v2.5 Roadster in 2010 they had added a 12V motorcycle battery in front of the right front wheel and...

Where should the 240V outlet be?

I agree that having the 14-30 next to the NACS port would be ideal but there may be aesthetic reasons to avoid that. I'm a Traveller reservation holder and so I'm talking my book there vs the Terra that's already been shown with a 240V plug inside the bed. Can you elaborate on what gets...

Industry-leading DCFC charge rate and battery warranty

I think this is a bit aggressive for a new company. Scout will have to keep a mountain of cash in reserve to pay anticipated warranty claims. The longer the warranty period, the longer that cash is tied up. That cash would likely be better used to create new models to expand their market...
