  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

There are people working on this. They have been laying the groundwork for more than 10 years, see for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellular_V2X Will there be enough vehicles with this capability in the next 10 to 15 years that you observe a difference in how you experience driving...

As we get closer to launch. Feature Requests & Real‑World Feedback for Scout

This could work for some people. I am not a watch wearer and I am also not an Apple iPhone owner. So the cost to get a special watch just to unlock the door would lose out to a much simpler solution, make sure the truck has an inconspicuous attachment point where I can hang a lockbox with a...

I'm not familar with that but it sounds like the right idea. I'll check in to it. Edit: again not sure on if it is cool to post links to other companies, but I looked into it a bit and there is quite a discussion about exactly this problem and solution at...

As we get closer to launch. Feature Requests & Real‑World Feedback for Scout

I didn't see this suggestion previously, and based on my recent trip to Death Valley I had an idea. Can Scout offer a short range and high resolution imaging radar on the front bumper for a cost of $500 to $1000? I was traveling in a group of 3 trucks and was always the 2nd or 3rd truck. With...

As we get closer to launch. Feature Requests & Real‑World Feedback for Scout

Keypad access is great, but really any way to unlock the vehicle that does not require me to carry an electronic key with me is best. Specific case I am thinking of is surfing. I don't want to have to fiddle with taking a key into the water and making sure I don't short it out. Never had this...

Interesting idea. I have reserved RV campsites because that was all that was left in the area for car camping and I wanted a campsite with access to showers. I also know of businesses like gyms that you can pay a small day use fee and they understand full well you are paying to use their...

Is this an XRT? I was told they were very hard to get, so congrats. I had to "settle" for a different AWD model. I'm happy with it. The red car is my neighbors. We were parked next to each other and I took the photo to quiz people which car is faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile :). The C8 wins...

When I bought my '73 my friends all said I would soon own six. One to drive and five for parts. I proved them wrong, I got seven! I'm joking, I only ever owned the one and I managed to keep the one alive long enough despite not having a parts truck that I am finally using it for its...

Much of what you write is valid and one thing I try to do is refer to the specific math or signal processing being used since "AI" is almost meaningless now. So my comment above was specific to LLMs. And I too have had experiences where LLMs perform a task well, for example searching for a...

Are you in California and available to talk some sense in to some CEOs? I know it is a hopeless task... Anyway, excellent concise explanation of the LLM problem in widely discussed and generally poorly understood topics.

Thanks. I'm about as south as you can get and still be along the California coast, aka San Diego. And we are familiar with condensate pumps, we needed one for the tankless water heater, I forget why.

Thanks. We went tankless when that was considered better for natural gas water heaters because you only heat the water when ready to use it and we thus don't keep a 50 gallon tank of water at temperature to use it at most a few times a day. Sounds like that logic breaks down when you switch...

Rooftop solar is on our to do list. Not only because of EVs, but also all of our appliances we converted to electric as they needed to be replaced so the only thing that uses natural gas or propane is the BBQ and the hot water heater. For the BBQ, I can eventually convert to an electric wood...

Are you and I the same person? I just got my first EV, an AWD Hyundai Ioniq 5, a few months ago. Just before I leased it, I learned that the parking garage at my work has 25 free 110V x 12A chargers and I can get one of those spots almost all the time if I show up by 7:55am. Obviously this...

Remembered a random movie I think I saw on Netflix a few years ago called "Polar" with Mads Mikkelson. Filmed in Ontario and set in Montana. Another state covered, here is a scene with the Scout Info about the movie here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polar_(film)

To be honest, I would not make a special trip. If you are in the area, and you like gnocchi (the italian potato dumpling dish to avoid disambiguation problems), are happy to bring your own wine and pay cash, then this restaurant is for you, as it was for me when I was in the area in 2018 :).

This is off topic now, I've only been to two places in PA, and you just covered both of them. If you are near Philly, my favorite restaurant in the whole world is off South Street: https://www.discoverphl.com/partners/gnocchi-restaurant/

Related to that, this book is out of print but it can be tracked down. I think I got a paperback copy from one the light line dealers a few years back, but the link no longer seems to work. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/504059.A_Corporate_Tragedy The book is worth the read. And I...
