  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

This lower quality has been a steady trend unfortunately. In the 1990s, maybe late 80s, my Grandmother did not want to replace her York air conditioner for her house because it had been working fine for 50 years and she feared the new ones would only last ten years. She was not wrong. On the...

For consideration, a few links from Howard Yu. I just discovered this guy and so far I am impressed with his written analysis, for a b-school professor he far exceeds expectations. The video in the 2nd link was too long for me and too much "A Current Affair", if you remember that TV show...

I like the HUD in my 2026 Ioniq 5, but I wouldn't require it to be a feature in any future car. The main benefit of the HUD is that it is easier for me to read my speed on the HUD than on the dash display because of how my view of the speedometer on the dash is partly blocked by the steering...

I'm pretty skeptical of new tech, but headlights that can project movies is such a fun idea I'm sad it never occurred to me. Regarding Chinese software being terrible, have you used Windows, Workday, Atlassian, Sharepoint, or Office 365 lately? I have complaints about all them, just from...

More on auto dealers. These are from March and April 2026, showing that this is not a partisan thing https://www.forbes.com/sites/joshmax/2026/04/06/dealers-are-advertising-cars-they-dont-have-the-ftc-wants-it-to-stop/ "On March 13, the FTC sent warning letters to 97 auto dealership groups...

I disagree with this paragraph "For decades, buying a new car in America followed the same recipe: go to a dealership, take a car for a test drive, and then watch some finance manager draw the four quadrants out on a piece of paper while negotiating the final price. This method is so deeply...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

We are a one car garage. One of the costs of living in San Diego. I guess I better measure the driveway and see if I can even fit without blocking the sidewalk, otherwise the only option is parking on the street, which is doable but a pain for charging from the garage.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

This is actually a concern and a reason I may pass on the Scout Terra and hope for something smaller in the 2nd generation Fortunately someone already did the comparison to the Scout II, see here: https://community.scoutmotors.com/threads/scout-dimensions-updated-on-our-website.1135/ Which I...

All truck beds and hot hatch rear cargo areas with back seats folded down should be measured in how many standard size people can sleep comfortably in the event of a freak rainstorm when arriving at your campsite at 2:45am for a 7am backpacking trip hike start. I'm just saying, a 95 Tacoma was...

There is a bad joke here, but I don't know how to say it without being offensive. Someday I will ask Mohammad Bin Salman (MBS) for advice on this.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Thanks. This thread is 23 pages, I didn't read all of it before posting :). Sounds like maybe I should take a deeper look. In an example of creating even more noise, I want to say I also stumbled on a much longer thread this morning while drinking my coffee and I was really impressed with...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Good point on the Ioniq 9. When I leased the Ioniq 5, 9's were just starting to show up on the dealer lot, and I would have been tempted except the price was too rich for me (about $79k I was told for the equivalent features in the Ioniq 5 I went with). I just checked and today the Ioniq 9...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I agree the initial launch vehicles should be optioned out and more expensive. My thought is more about getting the base MSRP down into the 40k range, which includes $49,995 in my definition of "40k range". I look at it like this, let's say Scout Terra launches in 2 years, 3% inflation this...

I don't know if you are still looking for "gap vehicle" recommendations. Mine is a Hyundai Ioniq 5. If you happen to be near Kearny Mesa Subaru Hyundai in San Diego, I have a specific salesperson to recommend.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

It was very interesting to me that when EV Tax Credits, which honestly were a pain for me to utilitze because of reasons, went away, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 prices dropped by a similar or greater amount from the 2025 to 2026 model years. I am surprised how much I like my Ioniq 5, so much so I am...

I saw this description of Ray Kurzweil recently, and I think he is not the only one who deserves it. It is also just sitting there waiting to be used, as a colleague said. So I share it with you. Word: Nostra-dumbass Definition: When a high profile tech person repeatedly makes incorrect...

I came here to share some of my dislike of Elon and his B.S. In fact I was going to say something like the Cybertruck has as much relation to Blade Runner as FSD has to Waymo... and well I said it anyway even though I found this article that arguably does show a relationship between a Syd Mead...
