  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    AI In Scouts 2027

Get a vehicle that relies on the phone for it's data connection, like I understand the Slate will do? You raise a very valid point that I do not have an answer for. I also would not count on being able to disconnect the antenna as it seems likely that vehicles will have multiple antennas in...

    AI In Scouts 2027

Re: specifically "GPS being one way tech is one of the greatest lies ever told" Cars, especially Tesla which I don't trust farther than Elon's outstretched and slightly upward tilting arm, may be different. I design the RF chips that go in phones. GPS receivers have no transmit capability...

    AI In Scouts 2027

This seems to need more clarification than the other post about data collection by car manufacturers. GPS receivers by themselves are receivers, they cannot send out your information. Tracking requires two parts, first GPS or other position location technologies to know where you are located...

True story I was told. Motorola tested their pagers for vibration resistance by giving to the motorcycle police in Florida, who were using Harley Davidson motorcycles at the time (maybe they still are, we should ask Dave Barry).

That $8.50 station is pretty close to Union Station. Is there a rental car return there?

Do the po-po give you five minutes to replace your tire and get on the run again? That hasn't been my experience (because I've never run from the police) As always YMMV. :ROFLMAO:

A friend posted this on their instagram a few days ago. He is probably posting from California, but as his username implies, he travels around a lot so I'm not sure where he was for this one. This is a non negligible reason to want Scout Motors BEVs to succeed. It is so nice not having to pay...

The second part about when was the last time you needed a spare is a good point. I actually remember the last time I needed a spare, it was around 2005 when my Toyota, I don't remember how, had a flat in the REI parking lot. Around 2015, I got a bolt in one of the front tires of my Subaru...

It is also an entirely predictable concern, as I know because when I bought my Scout it had a very heavy duty swing away tire carrier mounted on the rear bumper. I eventually had the tire carrier cut off, because the latch mechanism was cheap, and I immediately discovered the benefits of not...

Just learned about this, which was posted in October 2022 Well, nobody ever accused me of being fast. If other sources I found are correct, 207 inches long with a crew cab.

The truth of the matter is I have dreams much bigger than my budget and my space for storing cars. Because I would also like to learn how to do this (on a closed course, of course): In a car that looks like what Steve McQueen drives in this but has been converted to EV: So we shall see...

Slate is interesting but it has several issues. See: https://techcrunch.com/2026/04/12/slate-auto-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-bezos-backed-ev-startup/ 1. Some people don't like a company backed by the billionaire from Amazon. Even if I give that guy a pass, I'm not supporting...

I remember people use to remove the tailgate on their small trucks. I always thought it was a superstition about improved fuel economy. Also, people would remove the tailgate and use a net instead, like this: https://realtruck.com/p/covercraft-pro-runner-tailgate-net/ So maybe somebody at...

Bravo, bravo for this. I'm starting to think about getting a mid 80's Toyota pickup (that's Hilux to the rest of the world) and converting it to electric instead of buying a Terra, which is way more vehicle than I need or want.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I put our 2012 Subaru Outback in the driveway tonight, it basically takes the whole length. According to Edmunds.com the length of 2012 Subaru Outback is 188.2 inches. So I can probably fit the Traveler, especially if I can take the rear tire off for daily driving and only put it on when...

Waiting for Scout, I leased an Ioniq 5. Here are things I'd like to Improve and as they relate to Scout Terra or Traveler

The 2026 Ioniq 5 I leased has this control in the key fob where when I am outside the car I can have the Ioniq pull into or out of a parking space. It is a bit finicky to get it to work, and I mainly use it for backing in when I've got the car lined up with a charging space but I didn't manage...

    Headed up display with navigation.

To be serious for a moment, my first car with built in navigation is the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5. My previous daily was a 2011 Subaru Outback and I made sure to get the trim level that had the moonroof but not the built in Navigation unit as I preferred to use my phone or my passenger when I...
