  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    QR Code Stickers For Repairs

The history of QR codes goes back to inventory controls, so having a code on each part for inventory and assembly purposes could be helpful for Scout as well. I love the idea of removal/repair instructions, but on other parts, just being able to scan it and the app pulling up a part number...

    Accessories Poll For Scouts

Optional masks/grills/lights for the front and rear. I recognize the regulatory hurdles, but I'd love to be able to choose from different styles when ordering, or buying another after the fact. Kinda like the new Land Cruiser offering two different lighting/grill looks, but make them...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Air-cooled flat-6 using old 911 castings, haha. No coolant plumbing needed either way, and with no water pump, power steering pump, A/C compressor, etc, it's a compact package. Pretty much just an engine with a big fan on one end and a generator on the other.

1,000+ reservations take rate stats: Harvester vs. Full-EV and Traveler vs. Terra

So we mix German and Detroit engineering and give it to the good ol' boys in SC to build. What could go wrong? :ROFLMAO:

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

I'd definitely be running non-ethanol gas in mine, likely with STA-BIL in there when I'm not anticipating longer trips. Being a sealed system unlike mowers, blowers, etc, gas will stay fresher longer with or without ethanol, but I wouldn't chance it.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

To go with the above notes on saving time: The appeal of the Scout/Harvester for me is time savings, and I value my time ~$500/hr. Being able to plug in at home regularly, not having to stop for gas ever, saves me time/money. On the flip side, adding a few hours stopping for gas AND charging...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

I think you're looking at this wrong by comparing range to EVs instead of ICE. I think most considering the Harvester are thinking of it as a way of dipping their toes into the EV water so to speak, without jumping completely in to start with. I've considered EVs in the past and have ruled them...

    Suspension Speculation

Like the rest of the vehicle, I want simple. Coil springs, standard shocks, short/long A-arm suspension up front. 5-link, coil springs, standard shocks at the rear. If I wanted a soft luxury cruiser that rides like a car, I wouldn't buy something with a solid rear axle!

    Suspension Speculation

I'm willing to lose some frunk space for longer front suspension arms. The more travel, the better.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

Big enough for me for the Harvester. Enough to supply juice driving down the highway at moderate speeds if the battery can't be topped off at a charger.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

I like the innovative engine options, I just want electrical output to be equal to or greater than what I would use going down the road at 70mph in a lightly-loaded vehicle. Whether Scout can or will do that won't be answered any time soon, but that answer will definitely affect sales. If...

Terra- Remove LED trim light on Tailgate

Scout was calling the black plastic front grill area a "mask" and same thing for the rear plastic panel with the lights. Think of Zorro!

    Move Harvester generator to frunk

I was thinking they were putting the gas tank in where some of the battery was, but I don't think we're talking about a big tank. Seems they could keep the Harvester where it is, move the gas tank to the bottom of the frunk and install a large battery. Frunk space would be reduced a bit, but...

    Basic or All Decked Out?

Power windows, power locks, power steering and a pair of lockers is all I want. Running on battery power though, heated and ventilated seats would be good as they allow me to run less heat and AC, helping the range.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

By the time we're done with this thread, we'll have fully designed the system for Scout. We're just in the brainstorming portion now. If Scout could just put some dimensions up for us of the available space (CAD drawings would be preferable), we'll handle the rest! :ROFLMAO:

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

That article says the power comes from the diesel/generator (not batteries) and powers the traction motors, which is the idea @CarTechGeek is promoting. Why invite electrical losses and battery wear by feeding power from the generator through the battery to get to the motors, instead of sending...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Sounds like the proposed 500-mile range of the Harvester should be plenty to get you there and back, but you'll be using some gas along the way. I don't think any other 4wd EV would get you there and back in the winter without stopping for charging, assuming you have an available charging...

    Diesel Range Extender option please.

While I'd also prefer diesel, I suspect anything VW related won't go that route after the whole Dieselgate thing. Turned in both of my TDIs for good money back then. Nowadays, diesels are more trouble than they're worth with DEF and all the regen crap. I've kept my tractors smaller to avoid...

    Let’s talk roofs!

Based on all the dents and scratches in the roof of my Toyota, I definitely want a SOLID metal roof. Please don't make it out of tinfoil. It should still be lighter than a sunroof or glass top, so use some beefier sheet metal in the stamping please.
