  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Sunglass holder

Probably good for break-ins too as I doubt many criminals are looking for something up there, especially if it's well hidden by the manufacturer.

    Sunglass holder

I drive, uhh, assertively, and I often drive with the windows open. My sunglasses would be on the side of the road somewhere... :ROFLMAO:

    Sunglass holder

With the vertical dashboard shape, I'd like to see a second glovebox for the driver's side like my FJ has, above the steering wheel on the flat portion of the dash. Not huge, but really handy.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

But this is the speculation thread, haha. I agree, it'd have to be on its side. The original renderings show the engine behind the axle and I think it'll have to be there to allow the solid rear axle some room for uptravel. There's not enough space directly above for an EA or a flat-4. Too...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Quick picture, to scale. Red line is the cargo load floor while the rectangle is an EA888 (with oil pan for now).

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

You know what happens when you take a 2' tall engine and cant it 25 or 45 degrees? It gets even taller, so then you're looking at something 26"-27" tall to fit into a space that already doesn't have room for it unless they put a huge lump in the cargo floor. Sure, you can lose most of the oil...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Don't those still rely on oil draining down to a shallow pan or tank? Turning an existing block on its side wouldn't allow for that drainage to happen as all of those channels are specifically designed for drainage down. Coolant could potentially be a concern as well, but being more...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Does Porsche not count as being in the group? With the Cayman/Boxster going electric, that flat-4 machinery is no longer being used for anything. Seems like it'd make sense to send it to Scout to produce their own engines.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Yeah, but then the whole block casting needs to be re-engineered because the crank is no longer splashing through the oil in the pan and is no longer lubing the bearings. Starts defeating the purpose of using an existing engine.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Agreed, but I don't think the aforementioned EA888 or EA211 can physically fit vertically, and if they're angled or on their sides, they'll probably need even more work than detuning the 2.0 flat-4 MA2.20.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

I still struggle to visualize how in the heck an inline-4 will fit in the space provided. That's a pretty tall engine, even with a dry-sump oil pan. The distance from the cargo floor to me bashing it when rolling off a rock ledge is MUCH shorter than an inline-4, assuming it's standing...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

If the cooling system is integrated with the main battery, a water pump wouldn't be needed as there'd be an electric cooling pump somewhere else controlling flow. Technically you could do away with the thermostat as well if the cooling pump is variable speed and working in conjunction with the...

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

Being in the same world, I completely get it. I can design an individual home to make someone completely happy, but designing a spec house for the masses is a different animal and it's a numbers game on what "most" people are wanting. I suspect designing vehicles is the same way and you've got...

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

What's the limiting factor though? Spring rate? Frame strength? Something else? I'm good with a 6k rating, but 5k isn't high enough for my needs, (same rating my Toyota currently has).

    Girl Scout Cookies

Sounds like the child labor in producing the vehicles should offset the extra cost of the free cookies and popcorn nicely. I support this idea! :ROFLMAO:

    Plywood

While plywood is nice, I also want to carry 16' lumber in my Traveler too :ROFLMAO: Seriously though, yesterday I had 16' lengths of stair handrail in my FJ Cruiser. Sure, it stuck out the back window ~5', but it was certainly workable. I definitely need a rear door/window solution for...

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

When I close my eyes listening to the video, the gear whine sounds like an Indy car! The rear corner blindspots look pretty good too as the video shows those quite well. The Scout definitely has a presence.

    Bench Seat vs Standard

    Bench Seat vs Standard

When I hear "bench seat" I still picture traditional bench seats from decades ago. There's no reason for a modern bench to be uncomfortable and unsupportive. Look at rear seats nowadays compared to the old rear bench seats out back. The two outer seats are nicely shaped with a fold down...

    Modular and upgradable components

This is a serious consideration that greatly affects future resale values which in turn affects brand image. While build quality/reliability ties in to this as well, I don't want to own a Maserati or BMW because I drive my vehicles for many years and don't want to sell my Scout in 10 years for...
