  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

So what if Volkswagen dealers win and stop direct sales?

To clarify, I don’t actually want to buy it from any of those dealerships. I’m firmly in the direct sales camp. My point was why would VW dealers assume it would be them IF it was sold though existing VWAG dealers. But yeah, of all those, VW would be my last choice.

So what if Volkswagen dealers win and stop direct sales?

I don’t understand why VW dealers think it should be them. Why not Audi, Porsche, Bentley or Lamborghini dealers? They’re all VWAG. Or sell them at Navistar (now International again) dealers like the old days. The suit is stupid.

    Improve the Heritage message

Several articles I have read while generally glowing, include the statement “VW bought the Scout name” in some form. This is one of the common claims made by never-EV hater crowd. SM should put out a promo video explaining/ emphasizing the history from McCormick Harvesting Company to the merger...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Generator makes electricity. Battery gives electricity. Add the 2 together for more electricity than either can supply independently. No mechanical connection to drive line required.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

We don’t know how the harvester will work but it is certainly possible for the generator to provide extra power because the vehicle could use full battery power + full generator power. It sure won’t go 500 miles like this but it’s a possibility. It doesn’t have to only charge the battery.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

I hope you're wrong. If that's the case, I'll have to re-think what I'd rather live with.

    Harvester modes

I don't know how the Harvester option will be implemented but these are some modes I'd like to see that I'm familiar with from my current EREV*. I have a 2014 Cadillac ELR (fancy Chevy Volt) that I've owned since new. It has 4 basic modes of operation: Tour, Sport, Mountain, and Hold. Tour -...

Are factory deliveries for reservation holders being considered?

I don't know who "The Autopian" has as a source but they've had the most in depth articles I've seen.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

That’s pretty much exactly how a range extender works. I’ve been driving one for 10 years.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

The views I’ve seen on the website and the reveal look like a transverse I-4 (could be I-3) mostly upright between the rear axle and bumper. The engine doesn’t need to be powerful enough for full performance, just some margin above full speed on level ground pulling a trailer. The battery acts...

    See Traveler colors

That iridescent sky blue looks fantastic! I always liked that color on Toyota Camrys. Not the Camry, just the color.

List Your 10 Favorite Things About the New Scouts

I've had some time to think, watch a lot of the video walkarounds and put a list together. I think my first reaction I posted somewhere in here was a little harsh. I had a vehicle in my head that I wanted - a fully open roof EV 4x4 to drive around town as a fun, reliable vehicle to replace my...

    Gas Powered Range Extender

I’ll assume 35s require the rear carrier as would the Harvester.

    Gas Powered Range Extender

I read somewhere that for Terra with 33s, the spare is under the truck. For 35s, it is in the bed. Would make sense that a Terra with Harvester would have the spare in the bed regardless of size.

    Scout Color Poll #1

Cool, I think off-white/cream would be better than white-white. Bright white is too harsh next to another color.

So, how many reservations so far?

18s are better than 20s but yeah, I’d rather have 17s.

So, how many reservations so far?

Under promise and over deliver. Way better to say 2027 and deliver in 26 than the other way around.

Offer it with a gas motor

I totally get the frustration with the tone of many of the "I want ICE" posts but, to be fair, it seems likely that the past 23 1/2 months of folks wanting ICE at least partly drove the decision to offer the Harvester option (which is exactly what I would want). SM seems to be a company that...
