  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Scout Dimensions Updated On Our Website

On the bright side, you may not need to open the back as often as you think since there is a fairly spacious looking frunk up front.

I debated whether or not to post this

Had to look better than this:

Running boards integrated into the lower molding?

It doesn’t snow much in San Antonio so not a problem for me but door dings drive me nuts.

Running boards integrated into the lower molding?

I would love for the rockers to be like the Bronco Raptor step and come out to the full width of the vehicle to keep other peoples doors from hitting my new Scout.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Sure, if it has a diesel and a gas engine.

List Your 10 Favorite Things About the New Scouts

If it doesn't bounce at least +/- 10 mph, it's not a real Scout.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

A "hybrid" is any vehicle with more than one source of power for propulsion. Most vehicles are parallel hybrids. Some are series hybrids. If the Harvester is not mechanically connected to the drivetrain, it IS a series hybrid. This explains the difference, though still dumbed down and...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

I keep telling myself to not look at this thread anymore but I guess I'm a masochist. Just think about it from an efficiency standpoint. What do you think is the most EFFICIENT use of electrical current: A) Generate current -> send to battery ->store in battery ->send to motor or B) Generate...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

I don’t think anyone is saying that the wheels will be driven by anything but electricity but there is definitely a lack of understanding about how a series hybrid works based on the ones that have been built to date. Especially how the battery works. It never goes to empty. The basic mode is...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Nice summary. I’m Group 1 because a Group 2 vehicle seems pointless to me. Who would want a vehicle you have to find charging for and still have to put gas in? I would just get the full BEV to avoid all the extra complexity of the generator.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Yes, it is my opinion. Never said it was known fact but what Scott said does not mean current from the harvester never goes to the motors and only goes into the battery 100% of the time. That is your opinion. Also, he’s a CEO, not the propulsion engineer, and getting into all the possible...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

This is NOT necessarily true and probably not. Electric motors don’t care whether current is coming from a battery or from a generator.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Ducati has a 209hp 89 #ft V4 motorcycle engine that I’m sure could fit. VWAG owns Ducati.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Maybe this will help understand how EREV/series hybrids work. I put it in the suggestion box for desired modes. Not saying this is how the harvester WILL work but probably pretty close. If the generator is small, the lowest, safe SOC would have to be higher than the 10-15% I estimate for my car...

    I know, but thank you.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

But it IS a hybrid. It's almost certainly a series hybrid and not a parallel hybrid, but it's still a hybrid powertrain. https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a46275944/series-hybrid-vs-parallel-hybrid-explained/

    Scout Color Poll #1

I won't buy anything on the grayscale. I will make an exception for a white Patriot/Spirit edition with lots of red&blue. I want actual colors. Green is my favorite but green is tricky. It can pretty easily go from I love it to I hate it. My favorite green out there is the metallic British...

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

I think you may need to dial back some expectations. They said up to 350 mi EV and they showed a truck with 35s. They didn’t say a truck with 35s will get 350 miles. I would bet that a base version with like 32” tires will get 350mi and an off-road package with 35s will get significantly less...
