  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Auto-dimming Headlights

Auto dim headlights - love them. Don't understand why they would turn off at low speeds or around a turn - my wife's Mazda and daughter's KIA don't do that. I also want the ability to turn all the outside lights off. I can on my Cadillac (easily) but not the wife's Mazda, not sure about the KIA.

    No Spare Tire on Tailgate!

I would like the standard spare to be inside the SUV. I would prefer the spare be small (donut) and put somewhere that takes up the least valuable storage real estate: 1) under the rear, between diff and bumper. No gas tank there but may not be enough rear overhang. 2) under a tray in the rear...

Magna to develop pickup and SUV for Scout Motors

I honestly don't care who designs the new Scout as long as it is an affordable, reasonably capable (don't need to do more than a Scout II) quality (reliable) vehicle that looks like a Scout, has a removable roof and doesn't rust. Magna seems like a company able to do that.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

The windows look sooo tiny compared to the body panels, even with the black at the bottom to try and make the panels look smaller.

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

For some price perspective, the average new car price in 1980 was ~$7,000. The base price of a new Scout in 1980 was $8,017 - 14.5% higher than the average car. The average new car price in 2023 is ~$48,000. If I do a little math, that makes a theoretical 2023 Scout ~$55,000 and that is a...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

I don’t think it was because demand for the base was so high. It’s because the demand for more expensive (profitable) trims was high enough to drop it. Why offer a $30k model when you can’t build enough $50k+ models?

Create a pickup section of the Forum

My interest is only in the Scout SUV and it seems that most (not all) on this site are also solely or mainly interested in the SUV as opposed to the upcoming SM pickup. No doubt because the "Scout" was the IH SUV and holds most of the nostalgia. To me a pickup is a pickup but you are going to...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

In the same vein but opposite, my SAAB had a feature called something like “dark mode” which blacked out everything but the speedometer. I really liked it when driving at night in the middle of nowhere. All you see was what the headlights illuminated and the speedo- max focus.

    Scout Color Poll #1

I think my favorite current color is BMW’s Isle of Man Green. I also really like Mini’s British Racing Green (not what I would call BRG because it’s metallic, but it looks really good). My favorite blue is VW’s Cornflower Blue-would look awesome with white Rallye stripes.

    Scout Color Poll #1

I think the matte ppf is the best way to go for those who want the look. It probably costs less than a matte paint job and you get the paint protection for free. Not one of the choices on the list, but I think metallic purple could look really cool. I’ve seen a few purple Scouts and they looked...

    Open top heating thoughts

For me, seat heaters and steering wheel heat are the best bang for the buck. Far more effective and efficient to transfer warmth than heating an element and running a fan to push warm air through cold air to get to the occupants. When I had an S2000, it was always top down if it was above 40 and...

I’d want 78-79 style Rallye stripes or SSII graphics if the doors come off easy.

    Factory Upgrades

V2H is high on my wish list. A battery big enough to move a 4x4 hundreds of miles could run a lot of essentials for a long time in an emergency.
