  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    VW is investing in Rivian

Exactly. Demos can be faked. Heck, even Apple faked it in the first iPhone demo with the phone barely working on stage and the apps on screen were just image placeholders. The difference is Apple wasn’t fighting the laws of physics and was well funded. Quantumscape made similar battery claims a...

Startups making those sorts of claims are a dime a dozen and pop up every week. Wake me up when someone brings a battery like to into mass production. It's one thing getting something to work in a lab, it's quite another getting it to do the thing reliably and at scale. Given that lithium-ion...

EV Sales Aren't Actually in Decline in North America

The fact that your vehicle depreciated so much has more to do with that specific vehicle than the fact it's a ZEV. My ZEV has depreciated very modestly since I bought it two years ago but since I have no plans to sell I don't really care what the resale value is. Are you not able to charge at home?

I wouldn't hold your breath. Solid state batteries have a lot of hype around them but they still don't work below freezing and depending on the electrolyte can be prone to cracking making their longevity an issue. Also the super-fast charge time claims people make are hilarious. Sure you can...

    Chevy Silverado

Teslas have one pedal driving on by default which I would argue is the real issue. The car sickness has nothing to do with the regen and everything to do with the abilities of the driver. Regen can be strong, yes, but it can also feel indistinguishable from friction brakes. Your anecdotal...

    Scout Color Poll #1

Oh I understand! No worries. I'm just saying they'll probably need to call it something else now.

    Scout Color Poll #1

Probably shouldn't call it "Apache Gold" these days but I agree. I hope Scout is bold and doesn't offer black, grey, or white and only offers colours! Stand apart from every other automaker and offer only colour options. I'm hoping for an orange or yellow myself, ideally in a two-tone scheme of...

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

Rolls Royce Merlin sounds please. That's mechanical music right there!
  9. Cranky Canuck

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

I agree. If we must have noise then we should be able to at least choose the noise.

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

That's brilliant!! I love it! I realize it's a law so automakers have no choice. Nice to see an effort to loosen it though. I think it's a dumb law that still puts the burden of not being run-over on the pedestrian instead of the driver where it belongs.

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

I believe there is room for this. Rivian uses bird sounds for it's locking and unlocking if I'm not mistaken. Maybe @R1TVT can confirm? Perhaps when the vehicle is moving Scout could make it sound like wind through leaves or a gentle stream or something? Something that would sound at home in a...

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

I've always felt so-called "pedestrian noises" were dumb and intended to make EVs seem weird to normal people. They only work below 30 kph because above that speed the tires and air resistance make the vehicle inherently audible, so really we're only talking about something that works at very...

No one is outlawing fossil cars. The "EV Mandates" don't say anything about making gas vehicles illegal. They just force automakers to provide electric options as well. A decade from now gas cars will be like tube TVs, you'll still be able to buy them if you want to but why would you? No one...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

No. There are no high voltage things anywhere near where drivers can touch things or where first responders would need to cut to extract someone. EV doors are no different than any other modern vehicle doors. The electronic door latch thing isn't exclusive to EVs but I do agree that manual...

Ugh, apparently the video is unavailable outside the US so I'll take your word for it. SNL does good stuff.

Yeah, I'm always a little amazed when I remember that even the US military uses metric. The science organizations do of course, like NASA but it's interesting that even the US military uses metric so it's weird that US society are pretty much the last imperial holdouts in the world. Given that...

Hahaha no. As fun as it would be getting a free truck from a dumb internet bet I really don't need two trucks. You can keep your money. I am confident in my model though, but it assumes stable policy and economic situation in the US. What I'm less confident in is the US rejecting the choas and...

You probably don't actually want to take that bet with me. Even the pessimistic linear industry estimates from groups like Deloitte have the US at 30% market share by 2030. I'm a data analyst for my day job and in my spare time for fun back in 2017 I made a market share prediction model for...

We won't actually have to replace 100% of the energy currently consumed from fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are so inefficient that when we electrify everything we'll only need about a third of the energy currently produced from them. Around 70% of the energy in a given unit of gasoline is just...
