  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

what's this in bed of Terra

I'm ex-military and I don't want things to look tactical in my daily life. Civilians with tactical things look like dorks. You can always tell when someone hasn't served a day and honestly it doesn't need to be actual MOLLE. This is a civilian vehicle, it doesn't need to look like some...

    Locking Differentials Question

Based on what they showed at the reveal event it looks like the overhead panel has toggles to select the lockers individually as needed.

    Battery Life in Winter

AFAIK they haven't settled on the precise battery chemistry yet. Most EVs are either NCM or LFP though, not NiMH. NCM tend to do better in the cold and are more energy dense but LFP are more robust in other ways, they all have tradeoffs. Either way there are methods to mitigate some of the...

    Battery Life in Winter

Cold weather range hit varies depending on the vehicle and how cold it is plus whether or not steps were taken to mitigate the cold. I'm in Ottawa, Canada and it gets down to -40 here on the thermometer sometimes (windchill doesn't count as it doesn't affect inanimate objects). My Ioniq 5...

    Rear seat movement

I have this in my Ioniq 5 and it's pretty handy.

    Modular battery pack design

Not really. I've owned old, used EVs with packs out of warranty. It's not the battery that is a concern, it's all the other little gizmos. The battery is designed to last longer than the vehicle, if it doesn't have an issue after a couple of years then it's good to go for decades. There aren't...

    Create a reservation/down payment account

So a savings account? You can already do that on your own. I'd recommend going with a high-yield savings account, that's what I've already set up. Label it how you want (I called mine "Scout Fund!") put money into it for the next three or so years and when it comes time to convert the...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

The math seems to math but with EV batteries the units we typically use are kWh for storage capacity and kW for power. They aren't interchangeable but they are related. A 75 kWh pack for a truck this big seems about right to give 240 km of range, that's about half as efficient as my current EV...

Blind Spot Turn Signal Camera Displayed in Instrument Cluster

My Ioniq 5 has this and it is a nice feature.

    Modular battery pack design

While I think this is an interesting idea on the face of it I don't think it's actually needed or desirable. Breaking the traction battery up into removable modules would me a decrease in energy density which is already pushing the limits. The housing and connections would take up valuable pack...

    Adventure Key - NFC wristband

    I love this idea!

    Highway Mode - RWD only

This is a good idea and how Hyundai does it. There's a clutch on the front motor so the motor is physically disengaged to reduce drag on the powertrain. It works very well in my Ioniq 5 and makes it so that I get almost the exact same highway range as the single-motor version. The one downside...

    Testing

I absolutely would! No way I'd use elephants or swimming pools or whatever random measurement system you Americans insist on using. I'll be sticking with real units of measure, like an adult. ? :ROFLMAO:

    Ditch Dealerships

49% of VW dealerships reported in a survey that they are "not excited at all" to sell EVs so it's a little rich that they're now threatening to sue for the privilege. I guess it never occurred to them that if they want to sell the hot new EV they might want to put a little more effort into...

    Remote Features

I expect at least those features. They're basic table steaks for pretty much every EV so I fully expect an app that lets owners set climate timers and charging schedules and checking the vehicle status and such. Those are basic capabilities for pretty much every EV including the crappy old Leaf.

    Scout Color Poll #1

I'd like to see yellow body and white top but that copper colour was really nice so if yellow isn't offered I'll be getting that!

    Testing

I mean...I'm happy to do winter testing here in Canada. Just sayin'... I'll be able to cold soak the vehicle at -30C and bury it in five feet of snow here if you want.

    EREV -> BEV switchover path

Having owned a PHEV in the past, I can say from experience that you won't be using the gasoline range extender nearly as much as you probably think you will. Personally I've ordered a pure-EV Traveler for a few reasons. For one, a gas engine introduces several points of failure and requires...

    Re-think Headlight Design

Personally I really like the look of the lights but as a Canadian who sees a lot of snow every year I do share concerns about snow buildup over certain parts of the vehicle. Specifically the headlights and radar/cruise control sensors. My Ioniq 5's cruise control is basically useless when it's...

Should Scout adopt the NACS (Tesla) charging system

Agreed! I love the implementation apart from it being on the wrong side of the vehicle and that the door is motorized. Apart from those two gripes it's great! It opens upward which provides a bit of weather protection, it's next to a light which provide illumination, it integrates the outlets...
