  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    VW is investing in Rivian

I totally agree. I'm really hoping the Scouts will be R2 sized and not huge three row behemoths as well. I want a four door Bronco, but electric, and with much better build quality. I think Ford probably extracted as much IP as it could get away with before cutting ties with Rivian. Seems like...

    VW is investing in Rivian

I think the Scout will be very different than the R2. Rivian has a very distinct and unique brand look and feel and Scout has a lot of opportunity to differentiate itself from Rivian. Rivans are more refined, sleeker looking vehicles. They're being marketed as "adventure" vehicles that are just...

    Production plant energy sources?

I like your thinking on this but I'm not sure the logic holds. if they use heat pumps for heating/cooling (an air conditioner is a one-directional heat pump but there are units that can go both ways called "cold climate heat pumps" that are like an AC but can work backwards) then the efficiency...

    Rivian carry over

Yes please! Not that friction brakes get used much in an EV but they're still needed so they may as well look awesome!

Direct competitor: 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S

I think you've nailed it. For EV owners we won't even consider a vehicle with a combustion engine so the only cross shop for us will be the Jeep Recon and maybe the electric Bronco if it ever comes to exist. For most people though I think they're more looking for capabilities so will cross shop...

The Key EV Tech I'm looking for in Scout Vehicles

That's an excellent point and I fully agree! I have an Ioniq 5 and can confirm the charge times and rates. A flatter curve is definitely an advantage. My car always amazes me at the speed it holds all the way up to 80% compared to my Dad's Tesla which as you said, starts off fast but really...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

I mean you can kind of do that now already...at least you can here in Canada and definitely in Europe. We call it "public transit". It's usually either a bus or train and you hop on around where you live and hop off when you get to the restaurant. It goes off to take other people to where they...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

I don't think there's any chance it'll happen in our lifetimes but to play devil's advocate for a moment, autonomy would be a great enabler for many people. Lots of people could benefit from being able to access a personal vehicle that they didn't have to actually operate themselves. The elderly...

Direct competitor: 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S

The Scout won't be competing with the Wagoneer S, it's direct competition will be the Jeep Recon but it will also cross-shop with the Wrangle, Bronco and 4Runner all of which have hybrids or plug-in hybrids on offer. At least that's how I see it. Those are the ones I will be comparing the Scout to.

Direct competitor: 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S

That's not exactly true. Maybe US companies do that, but even then I don't think that's accurate. GM's first real EV was the Chevy Bolt which has a 300 or so mile range and is a tiny little hatchback. Tesla's first EV was the Roadster which was also a 300 mile range small car. Even Ford has the...

Direct competitor: 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S

I hope that's true. I'm really looking for a Bronco/Wrangler-type vehicle more than a three-row SUV. I want four doors but I don't want the thing to be a land-yacht.

If the Scout is like a Bronco but better built, more reliable (that's a very low bar...I know)...

If the Scout is like a Bronco but better built, more reliable (that's a very low bar...I know), all electric, with more not-black/white/gray colour options (orange please?!) and without all the annoying Ford "bings" and "bongs" when you open doors and stuff I'd be very happy!

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

These are great points and actually work both ways as far as cold climates go. As a Canadian I'd also like an insulated hard top to both cut down on road noise but also to keep the vehicle warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. As far as 'pet mode' goes that's not an unrealistic ask and...

    Free EV...

Well...and this might sound crazy but...you could use the heat from the volcano to make steam which could turn a turbine...call it something like "geothermal" or whatever...then you attach magnets to that turbine to make electricity. That way you don't actually have to be near the volcano to use...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Nope. No need for a range extender with modern EVs. Such an engine would just add needless weight and complexity. Modern EVs charge fast enough and have long enough ranges that lugging an unreliable and redundant combustion engine around would be pointless and expensive while offering almost no...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Sorry to hear you chickened out on the EV but glad to hear you had a fun experience with the hybrid. Now you should feel a bit more confident next time if there's an EV option. It is a bit of a different experience than a combustion car. It's not harder or more confusing or anything, just...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

That's pretty much exclusively a Tesla thing and their design choices. It has nothing to do with a vehicle being a pure EV or not. It's not a problem on my Hyundai EV and it wasn't a problem on my last EV. It's only a problem for Tesla because they chose to use an electronic button to open the...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

No, like @J Alynn said I know they're aiming for "fall" so I figured the end of October would be "fall" enough. November and December would be more "winter' to me.
