  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Android Auto & CarPlay.

CarPlay & Android Auto have been requested many times in various threads. Jamie recently asked for each request to be in its own thread in the Suggestion Box so that forum members can up- vote each request individually. To up-vote CarPlay & Android Auto support, use the voting panel on the...

    Suspension Speculation

I think it’s quite likely that we see the new Scouts in Baja. In 2023 Scout Motors sponsored a vintage Scout in the race. See https://blog.scoutmotors.com/down-but-not-out-racing-a-vintage-scout-terra-in-baja/

    Move Harvester generator to frunk

We have gone 700 miles before (rotating drivers) but not without stopping once for food. 500 miles before needing to charge is fine just for me. In the course of driving such a long distance there will likely be plenty of opportunities to charge. The frunk is an essential feature. Carrying...

Jerry Cans + Harvester Range Extender

Your hopes are at odds with the concept artwork from Scout which shows a small engine in place of where the 32in spare rides under the truck bed. There is also an empty frunk for storage, so no big engine. The little engine is not going to be anywhere near large enough to run the vehicle down...

    Basic or All Decked Out?

I love full off road capability, the 35s, the tire carrier, the Harvester, the cabana roof and the leather seats. What I want and what I can afford will probably be two different things. I have two years to figure out how I’ll pay for it, so right now I can dream.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

I expect the vehicle computer will track how much the Harvester is being used and fire it up as necessary, not just to cycle through gas but also to move the oil around the engine.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

There will probably be no extra weight to lug around because the battery being a little bit smaller saves weight that is then used for the engine. A lot of EVs are lugging around big battery packs that are rarely needed. Scout are providing the choice of lugging around a small engine instead...

I reserved a Traveller Harvester. I’ll use those 500 miles. Some recent roadtrips from here in SoCal: Seqouia/Kings Canyon (CA) Yosemite (CA) Glacier via Yellowstone (CA, NV, UT, ID, WY, MT) Arches/Moab (CA, NV, UT) White Sands/Carlsbad Caverns/Bandelier/Painted Desert/Petrified Forest (CA, AZ, NM)

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

The 500 Harvester miles are obviously 500 miles with 1000 ft/lbs of torque. It’ll drive 499 miles and then do a 3.5 sec 0-60 or pull almost anything! This is in fact possible if the Harvester generator is small, like Scout’s artwork shows it. If there is a limp mode where driving performance is...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

That video was recorded before the reveal presentation. They had a private briefing and while the information was very fresh they were spit-balling on camera. Those videos from the select few that got early access are the worse for accurate information. The Harvester video clearly shows Scout...

    Confirmed….Scout using Rivian’s software…

This is a great article. Rivian’s chief software guy seems out of touch (no pun intended), his ideals for how people should interact with a vehicle (voice commands) are not what most people want. One of the biggest cheers at the Scout reveal event was for physical buttons and the automotive...

NADA going after Scout Direct to Consumer

Scout is an independent company. NADA are claiming Scout will be competing against their own VW and Audi dealerships, they are not. They also claim “the franchise system is the best and most-efficient way to deliver the customer experience that today’s marketplace demands”. The claim that car...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Scout have not set any expectations that the vehicle will keep going forever on gas. It gets 500 miles. Then you’ll probably be looking to charge. It’s primarily an EV, Sout’s concept artwork shows a small generator that can only possibly serve to extend the life of the battery. It can’t be...

Option for a Rugged/Waterproof Interior Trim

I’m a little worried that the interior design is not going to be easy enough to clean. For example, the space behind the touchscreen is going to collect dust and be very difficult to clean. I get it, that open space makes the interior feel light. But in real world use it might make the interior...

    Confirmed….Scout using Rivian’s software…

I believe buttons should ideally indicate state through their position. So a switch is flicked up and stays up or down and stays down or a button is pushed in and stays in. This way, the state is communicated clearly, without even looking, just through touch. When things are also controlled from...

Scout Dimensions Updated On Our Website

It appears the tire carrier is going to depend on tire size and other options like Harvester. 35’s were shown on the reveal vehicles (this size will apparently require the tire carrier). 32’s will be apparently be available from the factory (and will fit under the vehicle, but perhaps only if...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

They just said gas. Scouts images show a very small engine that fits under the truck bed, more-or-less in the space available for the 32 in spare wheel. This retains the cargo space, but will evidently force the spare wheel to be carried on the back of the Traveller or in the bed of the Terra...

    Confirmed….Scout using Rivian’s software…

When it comes to software the people writing the code are usually just focussed on making something work rather than future maintenance and tech debt inflation. The resources needed to keep something working and secure in the future often far outweigh the resources needed to build it in the...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

This is one of the best videos to come from the reveal event. I learned a lot of new information not covered elsewhere. Also some great interviews with the Scout Community.
