  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

GM’s decision isn’t about giving the user the best experience. The best experience for the user is to get to choose which system they will use, the built in one, Android Auto or CarPlay. The user should be able to choose an option that tightly integrates with the small powerful computer they...

Porsche and Aston Martin have previewed their implementations of the Next Gen CarPlay. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a46188510/apple-carplay-next-gen-interface/ This allows 1) manufacturers to customize CarPlay with their own brand and design elements 2) users to customize the cars...

The Road to Scout Production - All the latest updates in one place...

The problem with Huhnke’s comment is that it makes over-the-air software updates central to the on-going customer experience by updating a touchscreen centric user experience. But the car is not a cell phone and what works for cell phones does not work for cars. Tesla drivers are often angry...

Congrats to Huhnke. Here’s a quote from Huhnke in his role at Fisker that might trigger some interesting discussion. Is this the right way to think about the Scout?

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

When Toyota unveiled the new Landcruiser they made this statement This is similar to the approach I was advocating above. I know the design team at Scout have all sorts of gloves to wear when testing controls. I’m thinking you should also have some blindfolds. Design isn’t just about how...

Inductive charging is very inefficient compared to conductive wires. It generates a lot of waste through heating the coils. The only reason to do this is for convenience, so that people can just drive into their garage and automatically charge without having to plug anything in. Have you ever...

    Battery Range Solution

I just did a 3000+ mile road trip that took me from southern CA, through Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Iowa to Grand Teton and Yellowstone Wyoming and then all the way up to Glacier National Park Montana, and back. We travelled through some remote areas. We were in a gas/hybrid car and a couple of...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

    1) A nice set of secure, waterproof, pelican cargo boxes that mount onto the vehicle 2) Potable water containers that mount onto the vehicle 3) Multipurpose compressor with value for quickly setting tire pressures 4) Roof rack that works with a removable top 5) An off-grid charging...

    Function over form

I can’t agree more. Fake air intakes provoke a very negative reaction in me. Another example of this kind of thing is what appears to be tread plates on the Defender. It kind of looks like you can stand on them but you can’t because they are not designed to take a person’s weight. This is the...

    Plug Type

With several manufacturers rapidly announcing they will move to NACS, we are no longer in ‘let’s wait and see what happens’ territory. NACS is unquestionably going to be the standard in North America. The sooner VW readjusts the better it will be for them. Tesla designed their charger from the...

    GPS suggestions

Integrating maps with weather conditions is a cool idea. A ‘high winds up ahead’ alert would be nice. Such alerts could potentially be generated through sensor data from other vehicles (or phones inside vehicles) detecting rain, fog or the buffeting of the wind. I’d be surprised if tech...

    GPS suggestions

I’d be perfectly happy if there is no built in map service. The CarPlay options are far superior than any built-in one I’ve used and have some big advantages. If you use something like Apple Maps you can start your route on your phone before you leave the house, see the ETA and make sure you...

Please make sure 1st edition vehicles work

You mention slow and failed connections with Android Auto. Scout need to keep up with the latest technologies and hardware support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For example, Apple just announced a few weeks ago that car manufacturers can now use their CarKey feature to trigger wireless...

CarPlay news GM have announced plans to phase out Apple CarPlay support. Why? They have a deal with Goggle, believe they can make a vast sum of money from subscriptions and want to monetize privacy intrusive data gathering techniques that are prevented by iPhone. They are working on a new...

    What If?

I’d like to see accessories that make clever use of space. A cooler would be an interesting project. I’d be open to an electric cooler that can be charged by the vehicle. Perhaps it could have a built in battery to extend its use up to a few days when it has to be moved away from the vehicle...

    Color Wishlist

Even if they just offer one collection of colors and even if it might not have an obvious theme, the set of colors should work together. There are certain mathematical relationships that link colors that work together. If those colors are plotted on a color wheel they fall along certain kinds of...

    Color Wishlist

I don’t have any specific color suggestions but I do have ideas about how to approach the finishes. Designers I have worked with are obsessive about color and based on the little I have learned from them I believe that the different color finishes should be cohesive as a collection. That means...
