  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    2 Door

I actually just put this response into the design thread but will repost here too. I loved owning a two door when I was single and didn't have a family. Not to mention they just look cooler. However, as a parent with a child and dog, a two door isn't practical and would be a deal-killer for me...

    Scout Design Ideas

Completely agree, Scoutsruel. I loved owning a two door when I was single and didn't have a family. Not to mention they just look cooler. However, as a parent with a child and dog, a two door isn't practical and would be a deal-killer for me. I will also say that I have really come to...

    Tailgate and/or Tailgating

For those that are against the swing-out side hinge door, like me, a swing out tire carrier presents the same challenge for those of us that routinely use hitch style racks. In my initial post I accidentally commented on my potential preference for the spare to be on a swing arm. A lot of...

    Buttons vs screens

I agree with Walt on the tech for tech's sake comment and feel there should be a reasonable balance. I get that there's a certain expectation for tech with EVs but there is something to be said about tactile response. When I hit a button for a control I know it's been pushed. You don't get this...

New Member life long Scout fan!!!

These pictures are awesome, Scott! After seeing these I spent hours searching for a photo my dad took of me in front of a Scout II while I was in college up in VT. No luck yet....

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

in no particular order: heated steering wheel heated seats (front and rear) Phone OS integration (andriod, IOS) heated mirrors sirius, spotify, pandora, etc. IF screen real estate is large enough or there are screens behind the seats then app integration for youtube, netflix, etc. ability to...

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

@Jamie@ScoutMotors unless I missed it I'm not sure I/we know exactly who Scout is aspiring to compete with and what demographic you're going after. My feeling is that this will affect the outcome of many of these questions. If that is still to-be-determined that's ok too. However your customer...

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

Short answer is, the more configurable the better. However it would be cool if the options to choose included things that are part of the price and don't require an upcharge (exterior paint, rims, interior color, etc.). I am in he market for a new car now and it gets exhausting reviewing all the...

What do you love or hate about other off-road vehicles

@Jamie@ScoutMotors below are some random, general thoughts. I also assume you are looking for feedback on factory/OEM products and not aftermarket creations. Likes: Large stock tires (Bronco and to a lesser extent Jeep) a small lift to enhance the vehicle's stance without making it look...

    Ammeter!! How could I forget??

For what it's worth, here is a link to an interior image of the Ineos Grenadier, a new-to-market vehicle for 2023. It has a very traditional/utilitarian dashboard with a very small touch-screen. Their design principles are centered on the fact that it's too difficult to operate a touchscreen...

A Bronco Mistake I Hope Scout Doesn't Make

Another design consideration I wanted to throw out there. Sorry a few of these have been somewhat piece meal.... I feel like Ford missed the mark when designing the new Bronco's hard top. When you look at a Bronco from behind the hard top looks too skinny for the width of the body. Similar to...

    Tailgate and/or Tailgating

I casted my vote too. I vehemently support a drop down for five reasons: 1. Keep the fit/finish original (with the exception of the tire rack) 2. For mountain bikers like me, who prefer hitch racks, that is the best option. Having a side hinge with a hitch mount rack is a nightmare and requires...

    Ammeter!! How could I forget??

People may want to ban me from this site after reading this but I can't resist.... If you've read some of my comments you'll know I lean more toward being a purist and am in favor of a more traditional, nostalgic version of the Scout. I realize this vehicle is entering a new phase in the...

    Marketing Idea

Hi @Tuff66 - i can track down more specific information. The pic with the one totally destroyed in the background had one truck from Thu Phoch at sector HQ in 1968. The one with the front quarter panel smashed up is from the district chief in Binh-Khe, also 1968. None of this means much to me...

    Marketing Idea

The Jeep and Dodge are pretty deeply rooted in military history. While the Scout didn't share as much experience it was in Vietnam and said to have been favored by the CIA. I have enclosed a few photos a military "advisor" in the war gave to me. Sorry the only ones I have are ones with so much...
