  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Love the question! Better yet, will members of this community move to the top of the list!?!? :D

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Completely agree with one caveat. Ensure that whatever design Scout comes up with has a way to disable CarPlay's autoplay from the inbound device. CarPlay in my wife's X5 is a NIGHTMARE as the phone overrides whatever she's doing once bluetooth is connected.

    Learn from the Bronco

J Alynn - you hit the nail squarely on the head. I was just about to reply but you did it for me :)

    Tailgate and/or Tailgating

My wife's X5 opens the same way and it's terrific.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

In another thread on the retractable roof idea someone brought up the concept of putting in solar panels. I'm sure it's actually been brought up across several threads and I can't keep thinking of how simple, yet practical, the idea is. I imagine by 2026 there will be panels, or even paint...

But the original Scout that explored America was gasoline powered.

On the topic of EV mileage, I am not sure if anyone saw the article on the Dodge Ram and its 500 mile range: https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/05/business/ram-rev-electric-truck-500-miles/index.html. This is for a 2024 release, 2 years ahead of the Scout. So serious range extension seems quite...

that's really cool! thanks for sharing, @Jamie@ScoutMotors

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Completely agree with you on the safety features, R1TVT. I won't even consider the Grenadier because it doesn't have what I believe to be fundamental safety features for my family, me, and the drivers around me. As you stated, just allow the driver to disable the features they don't want.

    Does Scout own Scouts??

From everything I have read, Scout Motors is a completely independent company. This begs the question, why would the Scout be in Germany at all?

    Does Scout own Scouts??

I have really enjoyed being part of this forum and love sharing my joy and passion for this project with so many Scout enthusiasts. As we all continue to contribute our thoughts and ideas, there are a few questions that have been nagging me. I am asking the questions below purely out of...

    Battery Range Solution

I brought this up on another thread (can't recall which one). There are already Chinese companies doing this with plans to rollout "battery stations" in the European market. There is also an Israeli company electrifying the road so you don't even need to stop...

Gen 1 font vs Gen 2 font

Funny, I thought about posting the same question/comment but assumed they were going with the original script. I actually like the original script better but it feels strange if they are looking to revive the Scout II.

    Trailer / Towing Discussion

I am not a physicist but love the idea of some form of partial energy recovery through the rotational mass of either the axle, wheels or both. Regenerative braking is another interesting idea. On the subject of "battery jerry cans", wouldn't their weight be completely prohibitive?? Or are you...

But the original Scout that explored America was gasoline powered.

Here is my subjective take. I have specifically asked what demographic Scout Motors is pursuing with this endeavor and have yet to see a response. In my opinion they are after the Jeep and Ford market with a beefy EV SUV that is offroad capable but will seldom be used offroad. To the point...

But the original Scout that explored America was gasoline powered.

Hi Matt - these are all very valuable points that, personally, I'm aligned to. However we need to consider what this means to the base consumer when we're talking about dollars and cents. I happen to live in a state where the cost of electricity is very, very high (one of the highest in the...

    Super Scout Package

It won't solve the issue unless there is a lip on the rocker that prevents items from rolling right out of the truck.

    Super Scout Package

I think there is little chance Scout Motors does a SSII version for quite some time. It took IH almost 10 years to come out with that version and it only lasted 2 years. Don't get me wrong, it was a very cool, unique truck. As long as the doors are made to be removed I'm sure a number of...

awesome suggestion on the solar roof!

    Truck version

Had I not seen the "Scout" on the grill I would have thought that was a Bronco. By the way, that was one of the attributes I almost added to the "What do you like not like about other off road trucks"... So many manufacturers rip each other off in the style department. I hope Scout doesn't do that.

What do you love or hate about other off-road vehicles

Two other things I thought of.: Asymmetry. The way the back window and door of the LR Discovery has that asymmetric look is so awkward. Thankfully I think they're the only ones that do that.... Windows that look disproportionately small, like those of the Hummer H2
