  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

LED Lighting for the New Scout EV Vehicle

Completely agree with all the LED comments and keeping to the standard Scout look. Just my $.02 but have to add that Rivian's oval headlights look ridiculous. o_O

    No Spare Tire on Tailgate!

I know I have mentioned this before but I saw an example this morning that reminded me of why Scout should not put the spare tire on the rear tailgate.... I was behind a new Land Rover Defender this morning that had a trailer hitch-style bike rack. The LR had its spare tire mounted to the rear...

    Order reservations

I agree with the concept of letting the forum members get bumped to the top of the line. After all we are the enthusiasts, many of whom own the originals, who are presumably helping to shape the future of the Scout(s). We have spent a lot of time providing input and making suggestions...

    Scout EV and Tax Credits

I do not yet own an EV (the Scout will be my first) so was unaware of how the federal EV tax credit works until I came across this article: https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/20/cars/electric-cars-sales-gas-cars-dg/index.html The article suggests that only ~18% of EVs sold in the US qualify for the...

First Scout off the assembly line: FC501 is fully restored...

    What a beauty! Interesting, I didn't know the Scout 80 came in a 4x2....

Scout Motors - who are your competitors?

Does anyone understand the Land Cruiser's "hybrid tech"? Do their EV components somehow boost the ICE or is it just like any other hybrid where it kicks in while you're going to the grocery store? I ask because I'm shocked it's coming with a 4-banger. I assume with 27 miles/gallon this vehicle...

    Rag top with roll bar

I noticed you said "owned", as in past tense.... bummer you let that one get away. What a beauty!

What do you love or hate about other off-road vehicles

One item I left out of my original list was colored brake calipers. I love how Rivian offers them stock in yellow. At least I am assuming they're stock as I've never seen a Rivian without them. I also noticed that the "Rivian" badge (the word not the logo) has a really neat yellow shadow to it...

Incase you wanted to see a scout in a VW showroom!

Drums, yes. I don't think Scout produced a model with D35s. I could be wrong but I don't think I've ever heard of one with that configuration.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I completely agree with you, Bodie. I picked up on that comment too but am hoping there is a a reason they revived the Scout brand. Otherwise they would have presumably created a more off-road capable VW. With that being said, the fact that they have so few Scouts in the company makes me...

    Function over form

Completely hear you with respect to a lot of the non-functional items such as dummy vents, etc. It's a shame car companies do that but then again consumers are used to that "look". I put myself in that category and really don't like the large, blank pieces of plastic or those huge lights that...

    Included DVR

I also do not use a dash camera but am always fascinated by the luck people have had with respect to capturing events, accidents, etc. on their cameras. It would be cool to have a dash camera included with a DVR. I suppose you never know what you might capture with something like that and what...

    Not competition for Scout, however...

@JAlynn - I agree with you and do not feel Scout should incorporate any sort of side-venting aerodynamic features, etc. However there is something that sort of bugs me.... too many EVs have these monolithic pieces of plastic where grills, fairings, bumpers, etc used to be (volvo, lower-end...
