  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

My father was a finance manager for a Fortune 500 company. I learned what amortization tables were over the dinner table when I was 8yrs old. It was boring at the time, but I really value that education now. Not that I am an expert of course, but I know enough to realize how interest rates...

    All terrain tires

Wranglers are great at what they are for. But, they are not "super awesome" for daily commuting. And yes, the Scout should be approximately "One billion" times better :D. Good to know. All I know is that the "on road All Terrain" tire wasn't a genre I was familiar with before, and these ones...

I personally think a lot of the depreciation hit on EV's in the US for the past few years, is because no one paid MSRP (ie, the effect of the tax credit when bought/leased new, reducing the price paid by $7500 for those that qualified). It also affected the used market too, because there was a...

With all of the vehicles sold during covid, with huge dealer markups, this was inevitable. I know someone at work who bought a Kia EV9, for something like full MSRP + $15k dealer markup. The hit on that... would just be brutal.

Love it :D. The next morning was great too :). Anyway, it was a good day. I drove the jeep... but the 4wd was only used in the parking lot, as the roads were clear. But if the snow was worse on the mountain, I'd have rather been in that than our other vehicles. Same thing with forest...

It doesn't really make a lot of sense, when you get into "serious" offroading. The super serious rigs that offroad often, and well, are usually beat pretty hard, and their appearance reflects that. So you tend not to see many brand new expensive vehicles used as rockcrawling vehicles for...

    Spare tire discussion

Agreed. I've said this a few times before. I'd also be ok with a full diameter, but narrower spare tire if it helps it fit in the cargo area/under the vehicle better. Like a 33x10.50 instead of a 33 x 12.50 for instance.

    A Gift From Scout Motors

I've been regularly checking the mail these past few weeks, but nothing so far. Guess I'll keep an eye out even more closely now. Maybe checking the mail 2x a day! :D

    Key Fob question

Lol, yes, exactly this. Although what you called out is what I mentioned. Having a hole in the key can help with the losing it bit. As at least it can be put on a tether. Case in point. I don't have an apple watch :D. And although I have a garmin watch (8yrs old now), I only wear it when I go...

From the article there. This, for sure. And why I don't think that this will help keep demand up now that the price point is higher again. I definitely wouldn't buy one. I don't know anyone with one, so I guess I'd have to think about the riding in one part :D. Now that I think about it...

    Key Fob question

I could be maybe ok with this. Also, as a side note to any scout engineers lurking. If we have an RFID card/key, please make it have a hole in it, so we can clip it to things/not lose it. The "I'm going kayaking and need my keys with me" situation, where the key goes both into a zippered...

The weird part to me here is that some people didn't know that this was a temporary price. When Elon said that it was a 10 day only price. I had a buddy who actually was looking into the CT apparently due to this price drop, but he was surprised when I showed him it was for 10 days only. To be...

    Key Fob question

Like you, I hate carrying things in my pockets. I don't know if I could handle using the phone as a key, because, well, things can go wrong, and batteries can die/phones can get lost. Doing a 4 day backpacking trip, and having to make sure that your phone has charge goes from "thats a nice...

    Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

Agreed. I really, really hope the frunk stays around. They are a game changer, especially for the terra. Simply because as you say, it’s another easy to access storage area that is watertight. So things like grocery store runs, with the kids, in the rain, get wayyyy easier. As I’ve...

Harvester Battery Stage of Charge Question

My PHEV probably has something like this, but I've not yet hit that limit. That said my PHEV only has a ~30 mile EV range, and the longest we've been able to go between fillups is something like 2-3 months (I think it was about 2300 miles on an 11 gallon tank), and it never came on...

Nada here too. Good to know. I've got a buddy locally who has a Terra reservation. Guess I'll see when he gets his compared to when I get mine.

    Dixxon partnership, & EV whirring

I agree, the onus should be on the driver for not running people over, but also think that having some noise to make people aware of a vehicles location without them having to turn and look at it does help with safety. No, its not going to prevent a kid from running into the street to get a...

Super cool. Mark and I lived in the same area after I graduated from college and were involved in helping out the same youth group for a few years. I won’t claim to know him super well, but I saw him once or twice a week for a few years, and was conversational with him. We did some activities...

    All terrain tires

That is embarassing :O. Yeah, thats why I went with the more "extreme" end of the on road AT, because the "most street oriented" AT's... looked like... they'd get you stuck in wet grass, even with a 4wd truck :D. You're also right about the driving through the wet, especially if you've got...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Uh, just chiming in here really quick, because it looks like a mis-type was here, but I think people might be taking it at face value. I have a 40 amp 240v outlet in the garage, with a Emporia L2 charger (well, an EVSE, but lets not get into that :P). As you say, that means you're charging at a...
