  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Off-topic stuff…

I lived 6 years in Ohio, and even did a summer camp in Bloomington one year. I know what you mean. Being woken up, and carried/herded downstairs into the basement. It’s not fun, but you do sort of get used to it. We did have a tornado take the roof off the house next to us when I was about 5yrs...

I don't know. I actually think that we're likely to get something relatively similar to the concept. Based entirely on feels, and not on data, I'd say that Hyundai has been one of the companies that has both a lot of out there concepts... but then, also a lot of the concepts actually stay...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I've heard of Carscanner, haven't ever used it though. And while I've used ODB2 scanners in the past, they weren't these phone connected ones. It was just a code lookup. Any difference between this OBD2 scanner and something like this one...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I need to check my battery health. What OBD2 scanner/app are you using to calculate this? My Ioniq9 has a battery health page, and last I checked (1000-1500 miles ago I think), our battery health was still at 100%. We're only at 5500 miles, and ~6months of ownership, but I should go check...

    Scout Production Number Badge

I lived in Phoenix during high school, but moved in only 2 days before school started, from the Midwest. Adjusting to the heat was interesting. And one of the first things we learned… was that the metal part of seat belts were the devil. You’d legitimately get burned if you accidentally...

What If the Harvester Shed 1,000 lbs and Got Better? The Case for LTO + EA211-ERV

Did you lookup the pack weight of the Ioniq 9, or did you estimate it using ai math? And where did you find the max possible regen? I haven’t looked it up, but I would have guess it would have been closer to 100% of the rated motor output. So that’s interesting to learn about. Mostly curious...

What If the Harvester Shed 1,000 lbs and Got Better? The Case for LTO + EA211-ERV

I had to go run to the store today to grab some fertilizer (pre-emergent ftw). And on the trip, I decided to check the regen some more, for kicks and giggles. The short version is that I tried some relatively aggressive deceleration moments (not stopping, as I was on a 2 lane road, I just...

What If the Harvester Shed 1,000 lbs and Got Better? The Case for LTO + EA211-ERV

To be clear, I'm really not trying to shout down the proposal/idea, and hope its not coming off that way. I'm just trying to be realistic about what the actual pros-cons are of the other things that you're proposing (where I'm at a handicap, as a non-expert on any of these chemistries). So in...

    R2 Launch Watch

That is disappointing. Things like this are primary reason that Rivian is not a brand I am considering. Well, that and their "war on buttons". But that's sort of the same issue, just presenting itself in another way. Which is a bummer, because I really do like most of the rest of what they do.

What If the Harvester Shed 1,000 lbs and Got Better? The Case for LTO + EA211-ERV

I don't know if this will be as much of an issue as you suggest. Or at least that the other battery supporting more charging rates would increase actual range in stop and go traffic that much. I say that because my Hyundai Ioniq 9 has a screen where you can see exactly how much energy the regen...

Battery only or harvester.. starting to rethink it.

That is definitely part of the consideration too. We only have 2 kids, and the Ioniq 9 , and Tucson both fit the 4 of us plenty well. But as anyone that has ever road tripped 14hr days with children... more space is usually always better. The Ioniq 9 has 3 rows, so we could physically separate...

Battery only or harvester.. starting to rethink it.

Yeah, its definitely on the list of things I'm thinking about too. We did just get a electricity rate increase notification this year (first one in a few years). But it was like 1/3 of a cent. So now we're up to ... $0.010613/kwh or something like that. And its constant rate. They have been...

    Off-topic stuff…

I think this it the part where I say "I've never heard of this person"? :P (but really, I even looked at his photo, and have no idea who that is. Other than I read he was in two shows I've heard of, but never seen)

Battery only or harvester.. starting to rethink it.

I've been doing a lot of this style of math right now. I'm trying to decide if we take our ~30mpg Tucson PHEv on our anual road trip this year (830 miles in one day, one way. A week or so there, then the 830 return trip also in one day), or our Ioniq 9. Currently, it seems like they are pretty...

What If the Harvester Shed 1,000 lbs and Got Better? The Case for LTO + EA211-ERV

Two things here. 1) I thought the bulk of EV incentives have dried up? Both the obvious $7500 tax credit for EV purchases, but also the EV Offset/Corporate regulatory credits (the ones where if a manufacturer had too low of a corporate average fuel economy, they could "buy" credits to "offset"...

What If the Harvester Shed 1,000 lbs and Got Better? The Case for LTO + EA211-ERV

Interesting read, I wasn't aware of LTO before. But having read through this now, I'm not entirely sure I agree with the whole premise being superior enough for everyone to replace the currently designed harvester design. The main benefit of the LTO pack seems to be higher charging/discharging...

Subaru Ascent sized 3 row EV? Basically the new EV Highlander, but a Subaru? Or something smaller?

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Yep, I'm mentally preparing myself. The Gravities specs for the top model are nice. But the lower priced version is actually quite close to the Ioniq 9 in many aspects. Range of 337miles vs 320 miles. 10%-80% in ~23min vs 24min. So agreed, the value perspective of the Ioniq 9 is pretty strong...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

FWIW, the list was... large. I think my excel file has ~ 13 row vehicles on it that we really considered (Toyota Sienna/Grand Highlander/Highlander, Hyundai Palisade/Santa Fe, Subaru Ascent, Nissan Pathfinder, Honda Pilot/Odyessey, Kia EV9/Telluride, Mazda CX90, VW ID Buzz) The Gravity was not...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

The Jeep Recon was one I was initially interested in, in the concept/idea. But, execution... leaves much to be desired. Its not even on my radar anymore. That is larger than the Scout Traveler will be without the tire carrier. And personally, it drives me bonkers how some vehicles are "reverse...
