  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

I've never had a failed charge at an EA station (granted I usually use Tesla chargers), but there is frequently either a charger out of use, or something goes wrong mid charge and I have to re-initiate the session, but there's always some working. I have had issues on small stations with just 4...

    Range and Competitiveness

I do think for towing, if you're someone who needs to tow long distances and frequently, then this truck, and probably all EV only trucks are not the right vehicle at this time. The difficulty with EVs is the cost vs benefit of more range. 350 miles is going to plenty for 90% of people in...

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

I wonder if it'll just be the biggest metro areas or areas that have the most reservations. I'm in PA so I'm assuming they'll be one in Philly but if not I'm sure NY will have one. I want a factory collection anyways, and a road trip back to get used to everything.

    Spare tire discussion

I’m leaning towards under the body, not sure I want any of the bed space being taken up by a spare tire.

    Brake lights

I guess without all manufacturers doing this, would any motorist that doesn’t have or know anything about Scouts realize what the different things would mean?

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I’d like a rear foglight, maybe it’s because I’m from the UK originally, where it’s a legal requirement, but it’s always nice to show some rear visibility in dense fog.

    Home charging setup costs

The costs can vary a lot based on where the panel is and where the charger is going to be. I would think with 200 amp service the panel will be fine, that’s what I had and I have a 60amp installed for my charger that charges at 48 amps. My panel is in the garage and my charger is next to it. I’m...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

I agree with this, I think the reason most people like the Tesla chargers is because there are a lot more of them and in better locations close to highways, and in terms of stations, typically Tesla have a lot more chargers at a single location than their competitors. At least near me, they are...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

This was a good read and well written! It seems similar to my EV road trip experiences as well. Most stops coincide with a lunch stop or a bathroom break so car is charging while you do it. If I'm staying somewhere, I usually have at least a level 1 outlet I can use as well. We went to the beach...

    Don’t make it fancy

120.4" is the wheelbase for the Traveler, 190.9" (without the wheel carrier) is the length, so very similar to a 4Runner.

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

Hopefully people refuse to pay these markups and they just sit on dealer lots until they bring the price down to MSRP.

    Accessories Poll For Scouts

My only issue with that would be what % will be used (presumably would have to meet legal requirements in all states) and will it have UV protection and heat rejection?

    Where are EV chargers needed

They should be available to Scout if they are using NACS. I imagine more third party chargers will have the NACS cables by the time Scout’s are released. Version 2 superchargers are generally not comparable but the later version 3 and now version 4 will be compatible. I’m not certain if all of...

    Where are EV chargers needed

They are probably needed in the more remote trail locations. Certainly on the east coast there are generally enough locations. What is needed is better up time and maintenance of existing chargers and more of them. Tesla seem to do a good job but a lot of EA stations around me are small stations...

    Brake pedal behavior: Preference?

I’d guess they’ll have a couple of settings to have either one pedal or so you can use the brakes. As a current ev owner it’s almost a must for me that single pedal driving would be an option as it’s so much better than two pedal driving.

    tonneau cover standard?

I’m okay with it not being standard since some won’t want it. I definitely want the option to have it from factory though. I also prefer a non-motorized one. Less to go wrong. Just offer a soft and hard version and I’d be good with that.

    Rear AC in the roof

I feel vents in this location (my current car has similar) never full hit the rear seat area as well as roof vents do, especially towards your face. Also, if you have a dog seat cover, it blocks it even more.

    Rear AC in the roof

Im hoping in both Terra and Traveler (especially Terra since that’s what I ordered!) there could be ac vents in the roof for the rear seats. This gives way better cooling for rear passengers and especially those of us that have dogs in the rear seats. I know some will have the cabana top but...

    Adventure Key - NFC wristband

I'm hoping there won't be an actual key and more a card like Tesla that can just go in my wallet as I enjoy not having to ever carry any keys with me. And then have my phone (or the wristband you suggested or watch app) to do the main functions of the key.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

If there is to be lane keeping, I’m hoping it would be hands free with eye tracking but if not, I’d definitely prefer a capacitive touch wheel rather than a torque based one that you have to keep moving periodically.
