  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

As currently discussed - Scout has appeared to do their best to make most of the EV parts standard across both Terra and Traveler and on both the EV and EREV - with the obvious exception of the battery pack. From an economical point of view, that is a very good thing. Plus it will make...

    3rd row option

Parents had a station wagon with the reversed 3rd row seating. Sure you could get in fairly easily (getting out required someone else to open the gate). With rare exceptions - OMG it was not enjoyable. 3rd row bounce was bad, not having any warning before stuff happened was sickening. Funny...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

Had to look up CHEUGY, and the general feel I got is even the internet is not certain what it means. It was coined in 2013 to reference early 2010 trends - but isn't 2013 essentially early 2010;s? So I will right it off as something I grew up with - where we were about one trend late in being...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

While I guess a few EV's have had battery replacements (due to damage), I suspect more are totalled at that point. Very few have probably had battery upgrades - it might be a smaller niche at this point than actual ICE to EV conversions. Changing chemistry and battery types might be a tad...

    3rd row option

We did a few trips with 5 kids - so I am pretty sure we have third row'ed baby seats. But with the Sienna, it was not hard to do - just slide the second row all the way forward. Plus if the child seats were in the third row, the second row could collapse forward making even more room. Child...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Thought I read that EV's outsold ICE in Europe last year. So I guess they are saying car sales in general are dead, and ice is dead dead in Europe. As for delaying the EV. I guess I can imagine 2 legitimate reasons for doing it (ok 3). Political - if they think based on midterms that the EV...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Hard to tell. Ford initially planned for a 25k annual production, but they then went all in and built facilities for 100k per year. Throughout it's production, they hit their 25k sales number, but that was not great in a 100k per year factory. Now Scout is planning for 200k per year - but...

    Define your lifestyle….

Retired early. Most of my free time is spent doing stuff with kids or at the ranch (a retirement job that will suck as many hours or years that I can throw at it). Used to fish and kayak very often - hope find more time to do those things again. Perhaps the Scout can help with that.

    My Perfect Build (Personal Opinion)

Solid state will not be all that close to mainstream by 2027. While it might be showing up in a very limited number of test cars soon, I doubt it will hit production cars at all before 2030, and depending on the ability to get the costs down - it might be significantly longer before it becomes...

    3rd row option

Honestly, more people need 2 rows than 3. Adding a third row will either force you to fully remove the seats, or you will loose storage. The Traveler does not have all that much room for a 3rd row - sure, kid seats might be squeezed in, but it would be less than great. Maybe put some tethers...

    Luxury EV

I guess I want some tech, mostly because I equate all EV's with tech. But I am more concerned with quality than luxury. With VW groups backing, I am kind of expecting quality at all price points.

    Long distance EV towing video

Location, Location, Location... I live in rural Texas. We drive a bit more than some other people I guess. HEB is a 1hr round trip of driving. Did a 2hr trip to day to take my son to the dentist. My old commute to work was 3hrs a day.

    SCOUT TRAVELER FAQ

I suspect it might depend on your definition of depleted. I think most EV's maintain some level of reserve to prevent the battery from being damaged. I suspect the EREV will have a higher level of reserve to maintain acceleration performance after the EV range is -0-.

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

I thought about it once. At that point - I spent most of my time either at my desk, in my bed, or in my car (I had a long commute). So I try to keep them as comfortable as possible. Now I spend more time in my truck than my car - but the rest still holds. 20hrs a week in a vehicle - it happens.

    Long distance EV towing video

I don't keep track of exactly how often I tow. But plenty of times it is every week - right now I am towing feed over 6 times a week (but honestly that is an exception rather than rule). So I kind of am probably part of that small percentage - but I also have no plans on getting rid of my 3/4...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I think the last I saw is Scout is planning to move up to 100k vehicles per year in 3 years. But it is hard to say where the starting point of that will be and what the curve will be. But I highly suspect they will not be meeting demand for both models the first year, and they will probably be...

    Off-topic stuff…

Well, at most this storm was excuse to sleep in and stay at home a bit more. We had ice on roads, but only in places and not for all that long. We have had about 2.5 days without real heat in my house (Aux does not work, and the heat pumps don't do cold well), but a single space heater has...

Help me decide BEV or EREV

My family has flown a few times on vacation - it generally was a matter of time vs budget. We took road trips with 5 kids - 7 round trip air fairs add up. Plus as mentioned, you can work in various entertainment breaks during the trip. Sure the point might be to get from A to B - but...

    Long distance EV towing video

Last week I did a small road trip before the storm hit S. Texas. Saw my first drive through charging station for trailers - it was one of a bank of Rivian chargers (also the first Rivian chargers I have ever noticed). There were no cars charging - but that is not uncommon.

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

Slate and Scout are not going to be all that much of competition against each other I suspect. Sure, there will be people who see price as the main difference - but I think they are targeting almost completely different users. I spend too much time in my life driving to want something that has...
