  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    R2 Launch Watch

As for 10 minutes I can make a pretty quick bathroom brake. Sadly - that does not help the fact I really hate Rivian styling - and I am not lying about that. I don't want one if you gave it to me. It could be a perfect vehicle - and I still could not get over the styling. Ok, maybe I could...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Not saying the showman has not had some failures (and some projects have certainly gone over his overly optimistic time budget) - but he is putting more tonnage into space than every other company and nation on this rock. Starship is a big step forward, but not long ago people were thinking...

FWIW - VWAG also has International... I guess one of the only real problems there - I suspect state dealer laws require dealers to service what they sell (I think that was one of the prime reasons we got dealer laws in the first place). I doubt International wants to service consumer vehicles.

    Delivery Options

Used to kayak a bit (which is to say, multiple times a week for about 8 years). Kayaking on the pickup trip - kind of interesting, but simply not practical for me. I don't need a new boat (really don't need a new boat, absolutely certain I don't need a new boat - yes, that never worked before...

While there are some individuals who would be interested - 56 kWh useable capacity kind of limits the number. Plus Ford does have a US E-Transit, so they probably have a good idea of its sales numbers and that a smaller version would probably just split sales between the 2 rather than open up a...

    Scout Production Number Badge

Not sure why I thought of Scout Credit Card when I saw it. Not opposed, but I would suspect that something in the Launch Edition will also be a unique identifier.

An off road SUV with low profile tires - interesting design choice there. I don't think they understand their market - or they assume there buyers don't know what an off road SUV is either.

    Audio System Brand Poll 2.0

FWIW I have an LJ and a JLURD Wrangler. There is NO comparison to the 2 for noise level and sound quality. The JLURD came with good damping (including acoustic glass), active noise cancellation, and a decent stereo. The LJ is an old school Jeep - it came with no sound damping and a 1980's era...

    Towing capacity and Range extender

Everything is a compromise. While my 3/4 ton diesel rides good, for a 3/4 ton - I seriously doubt it is the kind of ride most people not used to driving 3/4 ton trucks would appreciate. But it does tow extreamly well. The first job Scout probably did is anticipate who their primary target...

    Audio System Brand Poll 2.0

Honestly, a vehicle is a bad listening environment in general. Off road capable vehicles are generally a terrible listening environment. The vehicle my current Alpine in is so bad, I have put 2 layers of sound damping in just so I would stop wearing noise canceling headphones on when I drive...

What If the Harvester Shed 1,000 lbs and Got Better? The Case for LTO + EA211-ERV

If it was so great, I have to wonder why the Jeep 4xe used an MNC battery - and became the laughing stock of the EV world with it's dismal range.

    Audio System Brand Poll 2.0

I used to care a lot more about audio systems, what was that you were saying? Ok, all hearing jokes aside - I have not felt the real need to change out the audio in any new car I have purchased in 25 years - although I did change out the audio in a used car I purchased that was made since...

    Higher Range

It really depends on what the goals are. I think Scout is an EV company. The Harvester is a means to get around EV range anxiety - while allowing users to learn what driving an EV is about. You are proposing an ICE vehicle with an electric powertrain. While there could be some market for...

What If the Harvester Shed 1,000 lbs and Got Better? The Case for LTO + EA211-ERV

If the only goal is an electric power train (and the assorted benefits that come with it) - fine. If you want something that is primarily a plug-in EV. You would not have much daily range before firing up the engine - which is one of the most hated aspects of the plug-in hybrid Jeep. Nobody...

    Scout delayed??

If you think car maintenance is expensive - you should see my horses vet bills. Tires end up being cheaper than regular farrier visits. Plus a car does not need a dentist. Really don't want to compare my feed bills to gas bills either.

    Scout delayed??

I routinely deal with 2 auto shops - both have told me they will not work on an EV. That said, for the most part they don't even want to touch my VW Golf TDI - apparently there is a old wives tail that it will kill their diagnostic computers. I have not talked with the local tire shop yet...

    Higher Range

At least with most other EV's you either have the real world tests done both others, or at least the history of the companies prior EV's to give you an indication. I am not sure how extensive the real world data will be before reservations will need to be converted to orders.

    Higher Range

Sad thing - their diesel engines were very good. Virtually every other US small diesel manufacturer was playing the same game - but only VW got crucified. Ok, I am sore about my Golf being targeted and VW being targeted. But my soreness was helped a lot by VW paying me over 1/3 of the price...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Hate to need natural gas for electrical production or home heating once we no longer need oil for vehicles - right now it is mostly a waste byproduct of oil production. Oil is more profitable, so that is what is drilled for - gas is something that just has to be dealt with. Honestly, it is an...
