  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

There’s very clear evidence that dealers cost consumers about $5,000 extra per vehicle, on average, compared with what the costs would be without a dealer in the way. That’s not including the extra markup dealers in my area tack on just because they own the entire market within one or two hours...

We have our main adapters in the door pocket or center console, which makes them grab-and-go without having to open anything extra. Instead of a silly flashlight in the door as another manufacturer does, it would be cool if Scout provides a DCFC adapter that slots into the door for easy access.

I think if dealerships looked at Carvana, they would recognize how much customers hate interacting in-person. Carvana has seen 43% growth year-over-year, with almost 600,000 vehicles sold in 2025 for $20B in revenue. The largest traditional used car dealer network in the US is Lithia, with more...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

We don’t know what they’ll do for trade-off between battery mass vs genset, fuel, etc., mass. A lot of people believe that batteries are massive, and they are, but so are gensets. My *guess* is that the cargo capacity will be similar between the Harvester and BEV. Another *guess* is that the...

Interesting. When we bought the Lightning, I contacted the dealer through their online form. They tried to call me and I told them I was too busy at work to do phone calls and that all communication had to be through text or email. I told them the OTD price I was willing to pay. They agreed. I...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Somewhere on the forum a few months ago, there was an update that the genset and fuel tank would be between the axles, so there shouldn’t be a reduction in tongue weight availability with the Harvester. They’re now working on the thermal management part of the problem. But also, the CEO of...

It’s a geometry issue. Most SCs use very short charging cables (it’s how they get the high amperage current with smaller diameter cables). The SC post location in a charging/parking space is such that it’s intended for rear-driver corner (or front-passenger corner). Ford has its charge ports on...

I usually avoid SCs for two reasons. First, the charge rate is usually 10-50% slower than I’ve been able to get at other charging stations. RAN is usually the fastest. Unless I happen to take a 350 kW EA plug, which I try to avoid unless it’s the only thing available. Our Fords can’t make full...

I’ve been tracking my DCFC sessions for four years. I have made hundreds of stops at DCFC in my ~90,000 miles of driving. I’ve have seen down plugs about 15% of the time I’ve used EA. I’ve have seen down plugs about 50% of the time I’ve used brand-T. The difference is that brand-T usually has...

There's no such thing as Level 4. There's AC Level 1, AC Level 2, and DC Fast Charging, sometimes mis-identified as Level 3. https://www.transportation.gov/rural/ev/toolkit/ev-basics/charging-speeds The ai slop generated from repeated misinformation in forums and by certain brand marketing...

I did some rounding and it's entirely possible I made arithmetic mistakes. What are you seeing that doesn't match?

Thanks. Things are looking up. Probably going to be doing the shorter round trip for the foreseeable future, but hoping not to be doing the longer round trip anymore.

We did this with one Level 1 EVSE and two EVs for about 18 months. It’s not perfect, but it worked for us for until I got my act in gear and installed the Level 2 charger(s). That said, the past month has been very hectic for us. We have had a family member in the hospital (ICU, hospital...

You can use a regular outlet. But it charges more slowly on 120 volts than 240 volts. Assume a vehicle gets 2.5 miles/kWh, which is okay for a truck at around-town and pretty decent for a truck at highway speeds. These will be the typical charge rates, times, and etc for an AC (Level 1 or Level...

I have three level 2 EVSEs installed. Because I’m ridiculous. In the garage: A 60 Amp service for a 48 Amp EVSE, hardwired. In the workshop: A 50 Amp service for a 40 Amp EVSE, with a plug. Circuit is capable of 60 Amps, but I haven’t bothered with completing the hardwire install. Outside the...

Perfect. This gives you full flexibility. You can install a hardwired, 60 Amp service, 48 Amp actual EVSE if you want. Or you can go for a slightly cheaper, 50 Amp plug, 40 Amp service EVSE.

Sounds like he wants to feel superior, so I’m fine with not having to compete with him for charger stalls. Also, the CCS1 plug standard supports faster charging than the NACS standard (as currently approved by the standards bodies—they both can support even higher charging speeds in the...
