  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

This is the electric pickup truck (van) I want. And Ford won’t sell it to me. :( https://www.fromtheroad.ford.com/eur/en/articles/2026/all-new-transit-city-electric-van

My preference would also be to do away with the motors in the vents. They're unnecessary.

Scout Concepts in Scottsdale, Arizona, April 25, 2026

I suspect their lawyers are insisting that they have to be super careful when comparing the Scout vehicles with other manufacturer’s vehicles or specs.

    Scout Production Number Badge

Thus they should be optional for the people who love them. I think they’re pretty to look at, but couldn’t have them in my vehicle.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

I’m certain there’s no way to get them in without increasing the lengths of some of the control arms. I considered cutting them down to fit, but the turn radius is such that I would also have to fabricate some new seats.

    Scout Production Number Badge

One of the reasons I hope the Scout badges in the seats seen in the concepts is optional at all trim and package levels. I would have to tear them out on day one even in northern Arizona.

Scout Concepts in Scottsdale, Arizona, April 25, 2026

@Jamie@ScoutMotors, if you leave enough space by the Terra, I can park the Lightning next to it so people get an idea of the comparison. It will be a positive comparison for the Terra; I promise not to wash the truck before coming by. ;)

Scout Concepts in Scottsdale, Arizona, April 25, 2026

Plans have settled and we’re 95% sure to be in Scottsdale. This will be an interesting juxtaposition with the regularly scheduled event, “Vintage Offroad in Scottsdale.”

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Well, today was a bummer of a day. Early in the year I ordered new suspension components for the Mustang to upgrade the suspension. It’s got almost 60k miles on it, we live on a washboard gravel road, and the stock suspension is pretty harsh. So I figured I’d give the Mustang a little bit longer...

Terra height with 37" tires and roof rack?

In that same thread is where Jamie said that the 37s may not make it into production. https://community.scoutmotors.com/threads/scout-terra-debuts-in-new-silo-color-and-retheme.2758/post-45279

Terra height with 37" tires and roof rack?

We had this discussion elsewhere on the forum. The Ford F-150 Raptor and Raptor R and the Ford Bronco Raptor have (had?) an option to come from the factory with 37s. https://community.scoutmotors.com/threads/scout-terra-debuts-in-new-silo-color-and-retheme.2758/post-45299

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

Yes, definitely. Aerodynamics are the most important consideration for efficiency while towing at any speed above about 30-35 mph. With trailer axle and tire rolling resistance the second consideration. Then you start to get to the less important things like weight. Just think about it this...

Terra height with 37" tires and roof rack?

I can’t remember where, but I thought Jamie stated somewhere on this forum that they were not going to offer the 37s from the factory, just that they wanted to demonstrate that it is possible to put them on (I think with the right lift). I won’t say this that I am certain of this, though.

    R2 Launch Watch

I know you’re a big fan of Rivian, and I would love to be too. I am for most of the vehicles. But this is a failure of considering safety on the part of all the automotive design teams that are moving controls into touch screens. And it’s not just me or even one or two other people saying this...

    R2 Launch Watch

No, thanks. I’ve had touchscreen HVAC for the past four years and 90,000 miles in our EVs. We have no interest in buying another vehicle with such an interface. The Rivian’s wheel and mirror adjustment buried in the screen is another example of terrible UX. I often have to adjust my seat and...

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

Note for those who aren’t familiar with the Lightning. The 98 kWh battery is the Standard Range battery, which gets approximately 240 miles EPA. The Extended Range battery (131 kWh) gets about 320 miles EPA.

    R2 Launch Watch

I agree. We were hoping that if we decide to replace the Mustang the R2 would be the vehicle for us until a BEV Traveler is available, but we aren’t willing to pay to go backwards in UX. Having a screen interface for almost everything is an incredibly poor design decision.

    R2 Launch Watch

Does anyone know if the R2 has an improved hvac interface so at least the vent directions can be adjusted manually instead of having to navigate the screen?
  19. SpaceEVDriver

Terra height with 37" tires and roof rack?

I think it's unlikely that you'll be able to order a Scout with 37s from the factory. I think their point in including them on the concept vehicles was that it could accommodate 37s. Wheels and tires are the easiest things to change after purchase, especially if Scout uses an existing, popular...

    Towing capacity and Range extender

As I understand the most recent information out here, the location of the Harvester genset will be between the axles (just forward of the rear axle). So it will not negatively impact tongue weight and thus towing capacity. Payload will probably be not much different. The main engineering...
