  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Why do you like to go off-road?

    1. It's the destination, but the journey is part of the fun. Many great outdoor adventures can be had just a little beyond the last paved parking lot, where most people won't go. 2. Filter out the front-country traffic. 3. As I get older, my pull to the outdoors is still the same. The mind is...

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

I see a lot of bro-dozer trucks here in Colorado that never leave the pavement too. I for one do NOT want a standard 3rd row in the Traveler. It will compromise rear cargo space. Optional is fine.

    Switches and Knobs?

That's a volume knob. Talking HVAC. Unless it's multi-functional? I'm which case, how does it know?

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Good point. So I would like horizontal geothermal integrated into the...underbody. please.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Two words: Sun. Hail. Solar Power hood will reflect blazing sunlight right in your face. No thanks. This concept doesn't provide nearly as much power as one thinks it does...it's more complexity and more opportunity for failure than it is worth...especially when hail, or stones kicked up by a...

    Switches and Knobs?

I would expect dual zone or three-zone climate as standard. Even cheap cars these days have dual zone climate. One knob for the driver, one for the passenger. "Sync" toggle somewhere in between.

    Solar Panel Roof

Fisker tried the concept of solar panels on the roof. Granted, their roof was about 1/4 the size of a Traveler, but it was basically a sales gimmick that provided maybe a handful of miles in a day of bright Florida sunlight.

    Working class interior

Maybe. But malaise-era vehicles also didn't really have very good galvanization...

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

I have a L2 charger at home. I never charge outside the home, but if you do offer free charging credits, ensure they are on some kind of brand-agnostic account so I can use them anywhere, and they should never expire.

    Working class interior

Everybody says they want an interior they can hose out and think this is cheap and easy to do, but given the necessary number of electronics and other required elements such as airbag controllers, etc - this actually requires a much higher development cost for only a few people who really care...

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

Are the range figures the targeted EPA certified numbers? Many pure ICE vehicles can get better range than their EPA numbers, but most EVs tend to fall short.

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

Great to hear, but a company has to make money to stay alive. Can't see any automaker in this market segment surviving on 100% custom orders...at least not at the price points they are aiming for.

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

I know it makes sense from a production standpoint because it can reduce production cost and increase output, but bundling options into only a few packages actually really annoys me because I'm always forced to buy something I don't want, never use, and I know I'm paying for it. I would...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

With a vehicle that is an EV at heart - making a pure analog vehicle is impossible. Ineos Grenadier may be your huckleberry.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

They are onboard, they just have requirements that ROW matrix headlight developers can't meet. Because NHTSA lagged Europe and then implemented a set of standards that conflicted with designs ROW manufacturers had already built in, most existing ones don't meet US standards. Canada follows SAE...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

If you haven't used it, you should try it. It is the best mousetrap so far as auto infotainment is concerned.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Two words: Android Automotive. We have this in our Volvo and in our Polestar and it is superior to every other system out there. Don't waste time developing your own software. The number one complaint about new vehicles is about buggy interfaces. Honestly I don't know why any automaker would...

    Switches and Knobs?

So much this. I cannot second this enough. I will not buy the car.

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

    - Rear lift glass so you don't have to open the whole tailgate to get small items out of the back, especially if you have something on a hitch rack or you're trailering. - Individually replaceable/serviceable battery modules. Design these for maintainability/serviceability and eventually...
