  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

...which is why there has to be some solution to replace these taxes as EVs gain market share over time, which they will, regardless of the administration in power. The wisest way would be some point-of-charge tax, but for those with home chargers like me who never charge on public infra, there...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Turbines and rotary engines are actually nothing alike. Turbines are far more powerful for a similar sized occupied engine volume, but they have efficiency issues that require special air handling to mitigate. They'd work great under a high-pressure weather system in the middle of an Alaskan...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Right, and you're paying taxes on your fuel for it too. You get lower mileage than you would with a diesel, so you're buying more fuel at a lower tax rate. It all works out.

    Make the harvester removable.

If it could be that small and light enough to be user- portable/serviceable (engine, generator, fuel) but still provide sufficient power to fully charge a ~100kWh battery in a few hours (see other threads on this regarding Harvester speculation) - that would be great, but honestly this is...

Manual Control of 4x4 system instead of silly GOAT like modes

With an EV, you don't need 4L. Torque is max at zero RPM up through the useful range of wheel speeds to very high RPM and would be very close to rated motor torque (little/no driveline losses esp to rear since the motor is in the axle). So you're talking several hundred ft-lbs from the instant...

Space saver spare in Traveler Frunk

Oh God no. Full sized spare or don't bother. These are off-road vehicles.

    Frunky Kitchen

Maybe a slide-out with a fold out prep table - this would be a cool option. As long as it didn't rattle...that's the last thing I want to hear while offroading.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Because they pay higher taxes on diesel fuel. This is why diesel is more expensive than premium in some states.

Spare tire carrier should open from the right

I'm more concerned about opening in a tight space, such as when parallel parked, or in a crowded ski area parking garage. If it has to swing all the way out to the side, it's either blocking the gap between the next vehicle, or it's in traffic, or (when parallel parked) it may not fully swing...

    Audio system

My home audio is a high end Yamaha receiver with top-tier Bose monitors and surround. Amazing sound. But I've never been in a vehicle with a Bose sound system that sounded anywhere as nice. I think most automakers buy the Bose name and probably don't pay for the best experience Bose could offer...

    Audio system

Since we are on the road a lot, and even for commuting, I like my vehicles to be a nice place to be while I'm driving. Having a good sound system is essential. EDIT: all of my audio is through Amazon Music HD. The middle-tier Meridian (850W / 14-speaker) system in my 2017 Land Rover is superb...

Spare tire carrier should open from the right

I suggested some kind of folding tire carrier that can pivot inward (maybe with a locking pin pulled) for swinging it out in tight spaces. Alternatively, some kind of 2nd mode that lets it pivot down, with only the top half of the hatch opening, like this...

    Combustion Engine

You mean the $120k+, 9,000 lb lifestyle accessory that GM calls the Hummer EV? Yeah, I wonder why it doesn't sell. They start at $100k for a stripper model, which you'll never find on the lot anyway. Hummers were always lifestyle vehicles. This...is not that.

    Adventure Key - NFC wristband

This should be easy to do - my Polestar has an app that uses my phone as a key, but the idea of an "adventure Key" is that you don't need to wear it all the time, and there is no danger of a battery dying. What if you lose your phone or break your Apple Watch, or the batteries die? A passive NFC...

Make optional equipment truly optional, and not trim level dependent.

I'll ask for the ability to fully customize for free. Most people will be fine choosing pre-configured packages so they can get their vehicles quicker. That's fine. Few will actually customize after the first year anyway. If they decide they need to charge for the privilege, I'll decide whether...

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

I would take a user-selectable sound for pedestrian warning. Some of the gimmicky ones are gimmicky...but they can be fun. I just don't want a 500W subwoofer generating a V8 rumble just because you can.

    Modular battery pack design

Its not that hard - Jaguar did it, but there isn't a recycling model that works, and the I-Pace isn't old enough to need it. However, they did have a recall that required some batteries to be replaced (these were Panasonic batteries I believe...don't quote me though), so that may have made a...

    Modular battery pack design

Think of all the people today who are driving 40-year old Scouts. If you can't upgrade the batteries, there will never again be 40-year old Scouts.

    Optional Third Row

Agree that a 3rd row should be an option, and only an option - not standard. I don't want it - I would much rather have the storage and lighter weight. If it's standard, I won't buy it.

    Highway Mode - RWD only

The simple answer: Technology has progressed. There are a lot of great AWD systems out there that are transparent to the driver. With an EV, you no longer need a mechanical connection between the front and rear axles - you can control locking behavior, torque distribution left/right and...
