  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Not really. So many parts and suppliers cross borders (not to mention the full factories that GM has in Canada and Mexico, for example). This a lot more complicated than it seems. Let's see how the dust settles.

Scout Stories: Stoke Models Builds a One-off Scout II

A fascination with tiny objects is hardwired into the human brain. It’s a psychological pull that has captivated us for centuries, because there’s something almost magical about miniscule replicas of the world around us. It’s always been that way: the ancient Egyptians had tiny Shabti figurines...

We haven't yet. Retro colors in modern formulations. Some with metallic where the single stage paints didn't often have them. You'll see. Rust will be a premium add-on. :D It's all good.

Easy now. No need to give them a hard time. :) One or two may be similar to some we have been looking at, but honestly, there must be at least a hundred different spray panels collecting at this point. Even a shade of silver or gold, for example, might require more than 20 different small...

    Battery Life Cycle

Solid state batteries at reasonable cost and mass production aren't there yet. By all estimates the automotive industry is looking at a 2030 time frame before we start to see early adoption. The good news is that we have flexibility and space to accommodate a variety of different technologies in...

We already use Unreal Engine (and others) for renders, and we have a power wall at our design center where we can display the vehicles full-size in any environment we like, day or night. Our color, materials, finish (CMF) team has a full IH CT399 color sample book (thanks to John Glancy) and...

Interesting quote from NY Times - VW + Rivian + Scout

It is a carefully written statement. Volkswagen has won the grueling Paris-Dakar Rally numerous times, has won in World Rally Championships four times and that’s without any of the lower level competitions or other brands within the group. That said, no VW is not widely known in America for...

    Scout Supply Binoculars

No. Those were some handmade units. We may look at it in the future.

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

Most hand built concept vehicles have no drivetrain and rarely if ever do car companies let anyone drive them. I personally think there is nothing more Scout than us saying, yes, it is way early, but if Jay Leno wants to drive it, let's do it. We've done more with these fragile concept vehicles...

    Harvester towing

Projected tow rating for the Traveler is 7,500 lbs. and and Terra is 10,000 lbs. Final numbers for all models, including the EREV/Harvester models, will be announced as we get closer to production. Our teams are still optimizing everything and final numbers are still fluid.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Winch is something our teams are working on.

Scout should publish info about EREV driving modes

    25mph but don’t tell anyone…. ?

    Battery tech

My recommendation is to wait for our final numbers on everything. :D

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

We haven't said anything officially at this point. This is still fluid and being optimized, so lets see as we get further along in the process.

Scout should publish info about EREV driving modes

No. The concepts have a very basic electric motor setup designed mostly to get the vehicles on and off of transport trucks and to whatever display location they need to be at. Speeds are limited to less than 20mph. The drivetrain is not related to our actual drivetrain in any way.

Scout should publish info about EREV driving modes

Those are preliminary at this stage. More info as we get closer.

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

No, even the Crafter would be extreme. I don't believe we have any mules on public roads yet. Testing has been limited to proving grounds.
