  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Also, if you do 1 pedal driving on the highway, you might make your passengers wish you knew about coasting, or cruise control :/. I got a ride from a co-worker to work a few months ago when my car was in the shop. I think he changed pedal position every 2-8 seconds (alternating between "lurch...

    Range and Competitiveness

Agreed. I'm hopeful for mid 20's for mpg on the open road... but thats why my mpg estimate goes down to the teens, as I think what you said could very well be the case.

    Range and Competitiveness

Yeah, I'd expect something similar. When in range extender mode I won't be expecting the Scout Harvesters to be wildly efficient either. I'm expecting something in the 18-30mpg range. With things like pure gas chevy silverados with the 2.7L 4 cylinder being ~22-24mpg, and being of roughly...

    Range and Competitiveness

The Ramcharger is limited in range by its gas tank(a big old 27gal one iirc), at 690 miles. It gets 142miles of EV range out of a 92kwh battery. And it is clearly stated that it will be “gas and go”. I think the scout harvesters 500 mile quoted range means it’s gas tank is smaller than the...

Global EREV battery capacity deployment is growing six times faster than that of BEVs

My use case would be similar, but my 1-2x a year trip is ~800-900 miles one way. I'd personally plan on adding some fuel stabilizer to the tank when I got home from the long trip, as while it would likely get used for regional trips sometimes, the harvester wouldn't be frequently used either...

Questions for the Scout Developers and Engineers

Sadly, this is common practice these days. And it hurts me (I interned doing internet/network security in college, and I've officially been jaded ever since). Mozilla did a privacy review with the 25 most popular automotive brands in America. All 25 failed. 19 of those 25 sell your data (76%)...

    Cloth seats

I'm conflicted. Almost every vehicle my family or I have ever owned, has had cloth seats. Same with all of our furniture. And honestly, I agree with lots of what has been said. Cloth seats aren't sticky/hot in the heat, and they aren't clammy/cold when its freezing outside. They also don't...

Global EREV battery capacity deployment is growing six times faster than that of BEVs

Especially for larger vehicles, that do longer trips or move heavier loads, I think EREV's make a lot of sense, and will be popular for the next 5-10 years (assuming they take off like they sound like they will), at least in the USA. I think an EREV Minivan, and EREV 3 row SUV would be quite...

Interesting article about the engineering underneath the new Scouts

oh, I daily a lifted ZJ (1997 with the straight 6) with some suspension work that still needs to be done. So I get totally understand “interesting ride quality” related problems :D. Just was pointing out that it wasn’t so much a “ford vs Chevy” thing. And that the independent front suspension...

Interesting article about the engineering underneath the new Scouts

I get what you're trying to say here. But, point of fact half ton trucks have had independent front suspension for ages. The last time the F150 had an actual solid front axle, was in 1979. The Chevy Silverado 1500 had solid front axles until 1988. Currently, neither have solid front axles, and...

Consumer Freedom and Scout Motors in South Carolina

I'm a bit far out from Blythewood SC to likely worry about making it out there to pickup my future Scout (~3k miles one way). But just wanted to say, I wish you the best of luck, and hope you succeed against the dealerships all over the US. Like most, I think saying I have "extreme dislike" of...

    Removable Traveler spare tire mount

No idea! Looking in the video I linked at 8:10-8:15ish, it doesn't LOOK like there are separate struts there, but that doesn't mean they couldn't be there. And also doesn't mean thats what the production version will have. I'd be a little bit surprised if they have a rear tailgate, rear...

    VW ID.7 Pro S covers 585 Miles (941 km)

Didn't a Chevy bolt do something similar once? Where they drove it like, , at super slow speeds, not using heat/AC, rotating drivers/etc to try to get a crazy distance out of it? Hmmm. *goes and looks* Yep, here it is. 28hrs 30min of driving, avg driving speed of 21.7mph...

    Front storage?

Yeah, exactly. Even a small duct for the HAVC system to dump heat/airflow into the frunk would be really interesting to have as well, if you wanted to add some warmth with the airflow. Just imagine all the sweaty soccer/hockey bags, football pads, still snowy/icy skiiing gear, and other stuff...

    Removable Traveler spare tire mount

Good question. I assumed it did, based on some videos from the reveal. You can see in this one that the upper glass operates independently of the lower tailgate portion. I don't believe we've been told if we can lock the upper glass at certain angles/positions for driving while it is open...

    Driving Sounds

This is correct. It has been mentioned a few times. The exterior sound is a legal requirement.

    Removable Traveler spare tire mount

Afaik, both of these are already "things" that we know. The Spare tire carrier on the traveler is supposed to be removeable/optional, and the upper glass of the liftgate is shown to swing up already.

    Front storage?

The frunk is possibly one of the things I"m most excited about about the Scouts. Now what I'd love is for there to be some sort of ventilation in there, so when I pack it full of sweaty mountain biking gear, it doesn't turn into a "funk frunk".

Actual dimensions based on what we configure

We have the length already. The dimensions on their site show the length of traveler without spare tire carrier. It hasn't been updated to show the roof rack height though.

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

This one is a known thing. They are supporting it. They've mentioned it here on the forums, I believe its on their FAQ on their website, and the Apple Carplay icon was in their prototype dashboard in all the CES 2025 videos. So pretty sure this one is happening at least.
