  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Politicians are liars. Elon had a commitment from Texas to change their DTC laws before moving Tesla HQ and SpaceX to Texas. The politicians never delivered. Tesla literally has to ship cars that are made in Texas, out of Texas, then back into Texas for delivery to a Texas buyer. Yes, we...

    Dixxon partnership, & EV whirring

This is what worries me. That people are going to hate EVs because they are too loud. How freaking stupid is that? I also am protesting that the PWS law was written solely for EVs. If they truly cared about safety, the law should have said, "all vehicles must be at least this loud from this...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Jamie said the variants will be treated as the same vehicle when it comes to the line. I read that as they won't have to reconfigure the line to make Harvester vs BEV Traveller. This leads me to believe that there will be reconfigured when switching from Traveller to Terra. Scout will want to...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

I think you're reading more into this than there is. Just like they're starting with Traveller because they have more reservations, why would the powertrain choice be any different? If they have more demand for Harvester, why not start with that? They are simply responding to their customer's...

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

I have been driving EVs for 16 years. There has been a constant stream of "battery breakthroughs" in that time and exactly zero of them ever worked. Back in the 2010's it was the Lithium Air battery. Didn't work. Now it's solid state. Still doesn't work. Don't get me wrong, tech has been...

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

I'm just going to tell you that the chances of this for Scout version 1 are 0%. There is no way that solid state will be ready by 2030, much less reached volume production. It will also be much more expensive due to newer/less efficient manufacturing. Bottom line is that it is still vaporware...

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

So that is exactly what you're getting. The engine is exactly a generator (it's a series hybrid). You can absolutely drive into the boonies, set up camp, and use gasoline to run your RV and/or charge the batteries. You still have 500 total miles of range. Why does it matter if the mix of...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I stand corrected. My essay does not rest on your generational age, it rests on mathematics and history. The fact that you were able to "make it" just proves that you are an exceptional person. Your experience is not the norm for your generation and it is even worse for Gen Z. I'm not...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

The problem that I have with your posts is that you have chosen to focus your ire on this one corner of industry while completely ignoring history and the basic cause and effect of economics. Economies go through long term debt cycles. They always have and they always will, because people...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Yeah and my buddy hates it because they have to discount the new vehicle so much to get them into a loan it kills his commission.

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

I think some of it will come down to what is ready when the factory is ready. If they are sitting on a pile of battery cells and few engines, they will start with BEV. If they are lacking battery cells and have access to engines they will start with EREV. They will do whatever they can to...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Tesla has been dealing with this for years. They have been successful in some states, not in others. The key here is if they can legally say that Scout=VW. In the broader sense, there are workarounds. Tesla cannot sell cars in Oklahoma. But they have service centers and "galleries" wher...

    Scout delayed??

I appreciate the chime in Jamie! As I said, I was just stirring the pot. I am BEV all the way and want a large frunk. I had assumed the limitation was a tongue weight/braking moment thing by having additional weight on the rear.

    Scout delayed??

No doubt frunks are convenient. I'm looking forward to having a larger one (dual-motor Tesla frunks are quite small). But based on the amount of wailing about the lower Harvester tow rating, I was just curious what people thought about moving the engine up front.

    Scout delayed??

I'm sitting in a boring meeting and want to stir the pot a bit...... The reason that the tow rating is lower for the Harvester is because the engine will be behind the rear axle. This causes it to directly decrease the tow rating. Several people have complained about the lower tow rating for...

    Key Fob question

Too close for missiles, switching to guns.... Tesla lets you program the left scroll wheel "press" action to be whatever you want. I'm fine if it's something like that can be enabled/disabled in software (but getting back to the valet question, how would they know to do that?). My point is...
  17. strider

    Key Fob question

Not at all. The vehicle will always "start" in EV mode and will fire the engine when it needs to (based on what mode you have it in - stay EV, keep the battery charged, auto, etc.). If the button stays it will not control the engine. Butt in seat, key in car, press brake pedal are all of the...

Except that he's right. Only dinosaurs have start/stop buttons. Even GM woke up to reality 😇

    Key Fob question

That's why I'm saying all of the above. What I described (minus the store credit thing) is what Tesla does today. If you want to go surfing or kayaking, carry the RFID card with you - it can get wet. It can also be a backup key in case your phone battery is dead or whatever - you just keep it...

    Key Fob question

I have posted this elsewhere, but here is my $0.02. Scout should have phone-as-key, key fobs, and RFID cards all available. Cars should come with 2 RFID cards (these are credit-card size plastic cards that are all-weather) and of course you could download the Scout app and make your phone a...
