  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Off topic -- 1916 map of charging stations in Chicago

Chicago had a pretty booming electric car charging infrastructure in 1916.

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

I think you need to calm down on the rhetoric. There are exactly 0 vehicles directly comparable to the ID.buzz, so people who are including it in their shopping comparisons are going to come at it from lots of different spaces with lots of different perspectives. People in this forum, in...

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

To me an ideal vehicle that would meet most of my needs would be a 320-400 mile range all-electric, AWD minivan (flat floor, sliding doors, removable seats) with a towing capacity of 8,000 pounds.

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

If there were a fully electric minivan available a year ago, we would be driving that instead of the Lightning. I have to laugh at people who are afraid of minivans. The Sienna we owned was the most useful, comfortable road trip and utility vehicle I've ever driven. Cars dot com shows some...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

I'm glad it's been helpful. I've been worried about hijacking the thread. I'll continue posting when I have relevant information. We're working for the next several days, so while we have a few short outings and errands, they won't add much to the mileage of this trip--maybe 200-300 miles. On...

Not this trip. We have family in Redding, so we've gone to Lassen in the past and intend to go again in the future.

    Re-think Headlight Design

I'm not one who worries much about appearances, so the appearance doesn't bother me. What's intriguing is that it seems like they may be matrix headlights and Scout Motors is going to be one of the few with dynamic anti-glare high-beam lighting capabilities. This will greatly enhance...

    Accessories Poll For Scouts

I would love to see an early and active aftermarket rather than for Scout Motors to spend too much time on accessories. Build in aftermarket-friendly bumper removal and sensor recalibration; build in aftermarket-ready assignable switches and upfitter capabilities so the accessories market can...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Summary: Another great day of driving through beautiful country. The total drive time was 8 hours compared with Google's estimate of 7 hours that morning. We encountered very slow traffic going through the mountain passes, several disabled vehicles slowing traffic along the way, and an accident...

I agree. We also had lower than usual efficiency because we were climbing mountains and it was colder, windier, and more weatherly than our typical road trip temperatures. /Shrug It's been a great trip so far.

We charged at fast chargers. The Lightning has a 400v battery, so it is a slower-charging battery than is likely with the Scout, which is anticipated to have an 800v battery. Stop one was to add 50% or so to the battery. It took 30 minutes. We walked across the highway to the place with clean...

    Tell me about chargers

You should wait an see what Scout offers. Many manufacturers offer a charger with the vehicle, but not all do. If you're impatient, you have a pile of questions you want to ask yourself: How many miles a day do you drive? How aggressive is your acceleration? How much of your usual daily...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Directly related to range anxiety: Woke up this morning around 0600. The charge rate had been less than I'd expected and the truck had only reached 61%. So I got up, took the truck for a refueling run to a nearby fast charger. On a DCFC, I would normally only charge to 80% or maybe 85% if I had...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

We're on a road trip now. We drove ~500 miles the first day, ~7 hours. Stayed with family for several days while working during the day and visiting in the evenings. They only have Level 1, but we got to about 97% while there. Next leg was only 2 hours away, so we did that after dinner. This...

    Driving Sounds

We turned off the artificial sound in the Mustang. There's enough road noise that we don't find it necessary to add more.

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

It's fun to watch a new community of potential EV owners from and develop. I wouldn't want to cause harm to that. I've been a car geek since I was a toddler. I did my first full engine rebuild---of a Chevy 427 for placement into a Scout---when I was 8 years old. I've owned nearly every brand...
