  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Not trying to take bread from your table... I have the EGO Power+ T6 Lawn Tractor, mostly because it uses the same batteries that power my snow blower. Have a manual bucket and small spreader on it.

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Similarly to @LastDayScout, I'm only speaking from my own experiences: We've driven hybrids since the first generation of Prius (2002). We loved them, but always wanted an all-electric. At the time they came out, we couldn't even dream of affording a brand-T (and I thought the crazy train...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

I created an approximate map and elevation profile for the trip.

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

The final leg was from Lathrop to northern Arizona. We had a total of 5 stops, 13 hours from start to finish, and 720 miles. I might write up the legs again, but you all get the point. Total distance was 3,323 miles. Total energy used: 1429 kWh. Average efficiency: 2.33 miles/kWh. Total cost...

The all-electric option with plans for lockable hubs.

    Range and Competitiveness

Yep. A lot of contractors I know won't go more than an hour from home base--an hour drive each way is losing money. That's easy in an EV truck with 300+ miles range.

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

Exactly this. Imagine for a minute that someone can get a gas station stop done in 10 minutes, And let's imagine a 40 mile commute per day in an average 25 mpg vehicle with a 14 gallon tank and that people get gas at a quarter tank (so only 10.5 gallons used per tank). Let's say weekend...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

We've rarely been sprinters on road trips and take more easy that some people, I suppose. I grew up on junkyard vehicles that sometimes took two days to go 100 miles because they would break down in between, so maybe it's a matter of perspective.

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

I've heard this a lot, and we've experienced some of these issues, but it's been a lot less of an issue that what I've read online. I've only charged a couple hundred times at DCFC, though, and only in about 7 states, so it may be that I'm in a bubble of not-the-worst EA chargers.

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

Okay. We're home after an epic 24 hour drive over two days. Not my favorite way of road tripping, but we wanted to visit family for as long as possible. Day 14: Portland / Vancouver When we left off, we had made it to Vancouver, WA and were staying in a hotel with a slow (5.7 kW) Level 2...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

It was a nice surprise. EA had been doing free holidays for a couple of years, but of course that wasn't sustainable, so they stopped. We didn't get a free charge on the second EA charger we visited that night.

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

I used to drive like that too. But I don't have any interest in that kinda of road tripping any more. If I'm in a hurry, I'll fly and rent a car on the other end. We stopped traveling like that about two decades ago, well before we got EVs. But whatever floats someone's boat... Today's leg of...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

Another experience. We let Google choose our charger on one leg of today's trip. It chose an 8-post supercharger. The app said there were 4/8 posts available when we were taking the exit. This meant we were unlikely to be able to charge. T drivers generally leave a space between cars until...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

We have had a few challenges at EA chargers. A few times we have had to wait because a charger was down, or someone was charging to 100% or something similar. We've also had to wait at 8-post brand-T chargers. My experience is that there's little difference in reliability, but at the 50-post...

    Home charging setup costs

I would definitely wait until the vehicle is available for purchase before doing any electrical work. All sorts of things will change between now and when you get your vehicle. Most changes will be minor, but there's nothing that says, for example, that the brand-T ceo won't throw one of his...

    Non-Scientific Science

There's some slight misinformation about the destination chargers and their compatibility. Their adapter looked like it was for DC charging only, not AC charging. It wasn't the charger or the vehicle, it was the adapter. I'm betting that was mentioned in the YT comments too.

Auto Transfer of Power Front to Back

Most EVs can do traction control at about 500 to 1000 times per second compared with 10-15 Hz for most ABS systems. Check out this video. It's related to 0-60 and quarter mile times, but the details about traction control for EVs are important not just for the speed off the line, but also for...

Brined and roasted or brined, dried, and deep fried. Those are the two I do.

Agreed. I wouldn't get the Harvester, but I would totally understand why someone might.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Does that have a front hydraulics implements mount? I can't tell from the marketing materials. There have been some false starts for electrics in the tractor world and I'm hoping those false starts don't crash that entire field.
