  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

Data show that there was a 50% increase in DCFC public charger use during the TG week compared with the year before. "While the total volume of charging sessions increased nearly 50% during the week, the average charging station utilization rate — measured as total charging session minutes per...

Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

Exactly. As you saw in my other thread, I just got home from >3,300 miles road trip and didn't have any drama. It's weird to me that this is still a talking point, but I guess I need to acknowledge that living the experience and being told about it are two very different things.

    Size comparison

Tossing the Lucid Gravity into the comparison mix... It's looking at 440 miles range, but is very pricey.

Poll - Scout With Crabwalk or Turn Assist?

I wouldn't buy such a vehicle. It's a solution in search of a problem that doesn't exist and that comes along with a huge pile of problems itself.

Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

With more than 50,000 miles of EV driving experience, 75% of which has been on road trips of >500 miles each way, if the Scout were available today, and I needed to replace my Lightning or Mustang, an all-electric Scout would be one of our top options. My road trip videos, if I made them, would...

Adaptive Driving beams and thermal imaging.

Sometime soon when I can take a day off work I'm going to hack in and activate the adaptive (anti-glare) headlights in my Lightning. From what I've seen in poor-quality videos, they're fantastic.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

It is unfortunate. We also sometimes get coal rollers, but that's more funny than anything else. We can be through the next light before they're out of the intersection.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

These are very similar to our checklist for an EV truck. We just couldn't come up with the extra money needed to get the R1T. I'm a little sad about it from time-to-time. Also, my partner isn't super happy with me that I ordered a bright blue Mustang and wanted our EV truck to disappear into...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I've been an automobile nut and truck user since I was a kid. I learned to drive in a Chevy C-60 2-ton flatbed truck starting when I was about 6 years old (I would either stand and steer or my father would steer and I would operate the pedals as instructed). I grew up rebuilding all kinds of...

What are you driving until release?

2023 Ford Lightning Lariat with extended range battery. 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD with extended range battery.

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

This thread is a perfect example of range anxiety when it meets the real world. You have it. You express it. People reassure you. Back-and-forth. . . . Eventually it's forgotten for more interesting questions like which roadtrip store is better.

    RV Towing

    I wouldn't be surprised if it's a different vendor.

    Arizona - Sonora Desert Scouts

We're in Northern AZ, spent a little more than a decade in Tucson and still visit family there at all times of the year. We also do a lot of road tripping and camping in the Arizona desert in spring and summer. We have the glass roof on the Mustang Mach-E and the glass roof on the Lightning...

    Under seat cooler

I have a 5 kWh power station in the bed of the Lightning that powers our camping fridge, which is also in the bed of the truck. We charge the power station from the truck while charging the truck. The power station lasts many days and can act as a slow trickle charge for the truck when we're...

What a Scout Traveler would replace

I have a reservation, but we'll see what's going on when they're finally available for purchase. Could replace the Mustang. Could replace the Lightning. We're putting a lot of miles on both.

    GPS suggestions

After having had multiple brands of vehicles with built-in navigation and multiple brands using Apple or Google maps from the phone, I would strongly prefer that the automobile manufacturers stick to what they're good at, which is building cars and just contract with the companies that are good...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Very slowly. But, yes, probably by the time I need to rebuild the engine on this I can get an electric tractor for cheaper.

    Off-Road EV

I can't say what the percentage of drivers actually do real rock climbing. I'm in the desert southwest and the activity has grown quite a bit over the past 40 years. We drastically decreased the number of trips to Moab, Utah and the surroundings for our camping trips because it's overrun with...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

I can get an acre or so mowed with 25-30% remaining. I have a really rocky plot and it's not grass; it's thistles, weeds, bushes, etc., and requires several passes.

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

I have a diesel tractor and still have to go to the dead dinosaur juice dispenser a couple times a year. Sigh.
