  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Scout Color Poll #1

I really like it too. We bought a RAV4 in 2017 in that bright blue; it really stood out from the crowd (of black, white, grey, silver). But next year every manufacturer had multiple models in the exact same colour. So I guess we should be careful what we hope for. I have the sense that that...

    Scout Color Poll #1

I don't know much about paint except that good paint jobs are expensive, and even if you don't get a fancy one the cost of the paint alone is a chunk of money. So it would seem to me that since we are expecting two models, one more of a work truck and the other more of a suburban there is an...

    What Are You Driving Now?

Blue is the '65 Scout I drive fairly frequently; it is being hauled by my '23 Toyota Tundra Limited which goes anywhere where I want peace, quiet, fantastic audio, and near-luxury driving. Red from 1966 gets out for special occasions and the longer fun rides in the mountains. But the vehicle...

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

You have your points, but I cannot recall the last time I encountered a blind person crossing a road. I'm sure it happens but are we to design everything to address what are statistical absurdities? A horn to refocus a distracted driver or pedestrian is essential, but it is not a constant...

Should Scout adopt the NACS (Tesla) charging system

Yes, one standard is necessary. Just imagine if you had to search the gas stations to find the one that had nozzles which fit your make of car. There would be riots in the streets. (/s) Someone in government or industry solved that issue long ago, the same someone should look to SAE to make a...

Should Scout adopt the NACS (Tesla) charging system

I've said it before in perhaps another thread. Now that the USA has had time to experience and evaluate the several charger styles, it is time for there to be a nation-wide (better = continental) mandate established by some independent testing agency. I'm thinking it might best be done by SAE...

    Competitive Warranty

Unfortunately the value of a Warranty lies beyond a simple comparison of published numbers. I wander through the Rivian groups on Facebook a bit. It doesn't take much reading between the lines to figure out that the dealer/service-center location (distance from where you live [or break down])...

    What If?

These ideas are not real crazy or way out. When creating the 12v wiring harness that serves all the user stuff create and use just one harness with all the options pre-wired in all models/trims. That way if I decide to later add a dash cam or some other accessory which didn't come originally...

    No Spare Tire on Tailgate!

It is interesting to see comments about the grille. To my observation none of the electric vehicles have a grille, it's a necessity for ICE. I think we are asking that if the spare is in the frunk the compartment should open in a way that lets it slide out and that precludes having to lift the...

    Trim Levels

This poll tells me that the thinking at SM is being too tainted by current USA marketing and not sticking to the IH & Scout heritage. Early on (I'm old enough to have done this) the term "build a Scout" meant that IH built the Scout that you wanted. While those days are long gone from the car...

Scout Motors - who are your competitors?

@sambown / I like your analysis. I hope you are correct, but when I consider the realities of getting these new Scouts on the streets of North America the denigrations you cite - Pavement Princess & Grocery Getter - Mall Crawler (my addition) - come swiftly to mind. People like yourself and...

    Toyota Stout

Not sure what rumors you've heard, but in the Toyota August newsletter they are upping the challenge in the (pseudo & real) off-road market. The Land Cruiser returns with a hybrid powertrain. And add the 24 Tacoma Trailhunter model with the same powertrain plus something called "Stabilizer...

LED Lighting for the New Scout EV Vehicle

Absolutely!! I have had several conversations with my ophthalmologist about the colour temperatures, spectrum, and CRI of headlights and how it affects eyes and night vision. Much of his concern is related to the eye's recovery time after the oncoming vehicle passes and you are struggling to...

    Rims and Tires

There is a lot more to selecting wheels & tires than the current trend to taller and wider driven by testosterone, egos, and that elusive factor of 'looks better'. My '66 Scout 800 still rides on OEM rims and the closest tire I can find to the 28" 600/16 tires it came with. There are two...

    No Spare Tire on Tailgate!

I agree fully that the front hinged hood on the Scout II is totally inappropriate for and EV Scout. Your suggestion about level loading in the frunk certainly makes for less backache. The mini-donut spare might be o.k. for the majority of sales which we anticipate will go to folks driving to...

    No Spare Tire on Tailgate!

Well, if SM keeps the Scout small-ish and resists the current trends to bigger louder and higher it seems like Lefty's needs do not include a Scout, rather a full size PU with long bed. I'm hopeful that SM will give us a Scout that looks and feels, and drives similar to what our original...

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

For those whose brain is embedded in their cell phone the only real solution is a fast robotic arm that flies out and grabs the cell out of their grasp and flips it into the nearest storm drain. I doubt even the loudest horn will grab their attention. But you speak mostly of urban situations...

    Internal Storage Solutions

In several new vehicles I find there are 4 drink holders but not a single slot to hold a map. The glove box is so stuffed with manuals that there's no room for gloves. The flop-down for sunglasses will hold mine, but not my wife's, or my son's (my previous pickup had room for all three.) The...

Scout EV - OS Feature - Driver Incapacitated/Medical Emergency Protocol

I can understand your concern, and there are many good ideas in that list. The question beneath it all is how do we anticipate all possible human and mechanical failures in all potential environments? And at what cost? This is somewhat like the kind of planning that is done for astronauts...

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

I just bought a new Toyota Tundra Limited to haul my Scouts (on trailer) to our shows and gatherings. The Turbo V-6 really is pretty quiet so someone decided that it needed Fake Engine Noise (yes, FEN is Toyota's official term for it). Some &$*/@#$ at Toyota decided that we all wanted to sound...
