  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Did any of you folks who were there get to ask about the electrical outlets? In the presentation Scott Keogh said both 120v and 240v outlets at the rear and 120 & USB elsewhere. I wonder about having 220v in what will be basically a North American vehicle; what accessory or appliance would...

    Welcome and Introductions!

No dealerships, at least not in the current planning. You can go on line and place a deposit now. The plan seems to be for most of the support to be done remotely, as Scott Keogh outlined in the presentation. I think they'll be working out all those details in the two years it takes to build...

    Scout Color Poll #1

I'm still hopeful of a solid darker green; call it forest or british racing or Vermont, I don't care. A different colour top option might be nice, but I think a saddle tan might be better than white. I could live with many other colours, too, but my next favourite would be a real copper --...

    Scout Color Poll #1

I'm still holding a hope for a mildly iridescent attempt at a British Racing Green, (RGB = 0, 113, 62). It should look elegant with the proposed faux leather in the cabin. Of course those two tie-down loops on the bonnet deserve a nice wide leather belt, as found on certain Morgans.

    Navistar rebrands to International Motors

While on their website reading the press release I also read an adjacent release about the graduating class of an 3200 hour training program for new technicians in all aspects of the Navistar/International offerings. Apparently these are fresh recruits sent by dealers. It got me thinking that...

    Navistar rebrands to International Motors

If you follow the historical biographies of Ted Ornas it is pretty clear that his thinking was about a "Service Utility Vehicle" aimed at farmers, service stations, and other workers accessing rough terrains. Indeed, I recall that the dealer which I purchased my first Scout from in 1964 had a...

    Crawl

I'm aware of all that. The CRAWL would have to be a computer controlled selection that would adjust the torque to maintain the slow speed as it navigates the obstacles of rough terrain. In my case with a 1200' driveway with grades up to 12% it does a fine job of keeping control when being...

    Scout Color Poll #1

Not sure I'd like that as much as a blue that's a bit lighter than their flag plus the orange. It's reminiscent of our alma mater: « Ray Bucknell, Ray Bucknell, Ray for the Orange and the Blue » I remain hopeful of a medium-dark Forest Green, akin to the British Racing Green, but quietly...

    Crawl

I suspect I may have mentioned this earlier, but the events of the last few weeks have injected it back into my awareness. We took the Scout 80 which we bought 59+ years ago to Harvester in the Holler in Tennessee last month. Part of that event includes some trail rides that include some steep...

Cool opportunity for the Scout community...

Can we hope that whatever media show is compiled/created from our uploaded pix will be shared upon this Forum, or at least with those who uploaded images and video?

    What If?

I just saw on TikTok a video of BMW camera cleaners. They flooded the camera and surrounding surfaces with washer fluid. (I am not sure if they are real or just some TikToker's creation.) I believe that for most situations an air blast would be as efficient, particularly if there is a...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

@Scoutsie While it's entirely possible you were dealing with a scummy dealer and sexism, etc. there is a distinct possibility you were dealing with the "allocation" system. I have purchased several Toyotas from what I consider an honest and fair dealership, in fact from the same salesman who...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

I sure do understand the psychology you describe, our rushing society living in a deluge of info often lacks the time and resources to support study and consideration. That's why my first graph hopes that SM will eventually find a middle ground.; and my last graph hints at why it should be...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

There is a lot of appeal to what you write. Unfortunately Jamie has already stated that there will be several editions/models/trims. Somehow I hope that SM will find a middle ground between that method of manufacture and merchandising vs. the build it to suit method you (and I) hope for...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

If I heard correctly a neighbor who recently got hired by the USPS told me that he had to attend a week long course before the Post Office would allow him to drive a RHD vehicle. And I recall being told that Jeep wouldn't order you one unless you had a letter from the Post Office certifying...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

I find it hard to imagine that the design team hasn't clearly heard the desire of many legacy owners for a removable top. It's heritage, and fun too. That said, making any vehicle with a removable or fold-down or convertible top is going to be a severe challenge against the rule-makers who...

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

When navigating a tricky trail through the woods, or up a rocky hillside I want to hear the crack of the tree's branch, the snap as the rocks shift, the crunch as metal hits whatever, NOT some manufactured sound that blots out one of my senses (hearing). And may I repeat, vehicles have long...

    Moab Road Trip Inspiration

Overkill. How can we keep the SM Scout even close to the target selling price if it needs to support all the things you need. And BTW, your list and mine are quite different — skip the coffee mugs but have my binoculars and camera right at my finger tips. Yes one of the cars I owned back in...

    Scout Swag

Ah yes. The current offering of swag is, shall we agree, corporate. Soooo, corporate. But then, until the new designs are revealed, and with them some possible new graphics and logos there isn't much to go on except our past - the script Scout logo. And @Jamie@ScoutMotors, thinking ahead...

    Northeast (PA/MD) Meetup?

There are several Scout groups in the area, a couple are multi-state, others more local; all have FaceBook presence. You'd be smart to check them.
