  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Scout Color Poll #1

I like the copper that Nissan has had in recent years.

    Scout Color Poll #1

Well actually they didn't quite. The colours were based on the first and last Scouts manufactured. Scout FC501 was blue, and the last Scout was a red maroon. Admittedly they didn't quite copy the colours (I have seen both originals) but came up with modern derivatives. Scott actually...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

I guess some of the reluctance comes from dependence upon a resistance sensor that's supposed to stop/reverse the closing window if it senses a child's arm or dog's leg. I've owned several vehicles that claim that capability but I am still reluctant to commit a body part to testing its reliability.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Point about coolness factor well taken. Admittedly the ones that slip over the ball, result in a less than perfect arrangement except fairly light duty tasks, but in a dedicated mount that fits the hitch receiver they should be quite effective.

Should Scout adopt the NACS (Tesla) charging system

Whether here or perhaps more importantly in the Trunk, Frunk, and interior, there's also a need for a 12vDC outlet to power the wide array of appliances and accessories that already exist in the aftermarket.

And let us hope that trim levels will be irrelevant in SM, and that ordering (accessorizing) to our needs is primary.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Another call for the rebirth of JC Whitney. Although some sound interesting, all I can ask SM to include is space to run wires, simple panel designs that are easy to mount to. In short, keep it simple enough that we can work on adding stuff.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Alas, we seem to be headed to being so protected by the "motherland" that we soon will be denied the joy of the open road -- or forest road, or desert canyon, or . . .

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

While I have grown to appreciate several such controls with my Toyotas, I'm reluctant to ask for too many of what could be considered "frills" on a vehicle which is trying to hold down the price and come forward as much a "service" as a "sport" UV. One on my Tundra is only half there = all...

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

Toyota has a "build your own" process on their website which does exactly as you suggest. Unfortunately they still make features only available in "packages", and of course there is no system in place to allow you to actually order what you've designed. I think Scott has said SM will not...

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

Actually soft tops were considered to be quieter, back in the day. Of course we didn't adhere to the lugged beast tyres fad back then either.

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

But there are times when silence is best; in a parade, in a funeral procession, working a music festival venue when in a wildlife refuge, etc.

    Scout Color Poll #1

As I see it wraps are a temporary thing, seems like 7 years max if you really baby it. I want a colour that lasts like my 59+ year old Scout has, same as when we bought it in 1964.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

I have a feature request. That there be a position on the stalk/switch controlling the head/tail lights that supports running lights. When pulling a trailer with my Scout on it I like to have the tail and side lights on both the truck and the trailer turned on during daylight hours. It's a...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

That sounds so good, but I wonder about the practical side. I live in a basically all electric house, and am sorely aware of the demands that well pumps, freezers, refrigerators, the stove and hot water heaters make, not to mention the electric baseboard heat. A few years ago we had an...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

I kinda doubt that it will be only on the pickup. Scott was being effusive about the features of the pickup at that point and spilled out a bunch of them. He never went into that sort of feature listing for the Traveler, so I'd guess they both will have pretty much the same electrical...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

On the screen behind the stage there was a very short glimpse of a Scout with a snowplow and one with a device for handling a roll of hay. So I get the hope that the design team are truly listening to the comments we have been making about making the EV Scout capable of becoming a true utility...

    Welcome and Introductions!

Hope to see you and your rig at the Upper Canada ATCA truck show in Athens, ON next August. It is held in conjunction with the largest collection of IH trucks in the world. Should be a good introduction the the Scout family and it's related cousins.

    Scout Color Poll #1

Pretty decent palette. I expect a white needs to be added to support the folks who want to cover it with a vinyl wrap of their choice (or for Alaskans who want to hide). I'm happy to see that the usual range from magnetite to silver has been omitted.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Only half of North America runs with Apple, another half runs on Android. The vehicle must support both, and not block other OSs that it may encounter.
