  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Consumer Freedom and Scout Motors in South Carolina

Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday, February 12 in Columbia, South Carolina. We can only hope that the committee and our state legislators realize that they are elected by more consumers in our state than those employed by dealerships. It's time for a change!

    Scout as an EV

So, exactly what J Alynn said. That is basically my path to reserving a new Scout. At first, I was truly disappointed when I heard the new Scout was to be an EV. My dad had a Scout 800, I bought a brand new 1979 Scout II that I still own. Scout being an EV just didn't "feel right". But this...

Cold Climate Auxiliary Heat From Harvester ICE

These are good ideas, but for the sake of simplicity and cost, I would prefer that SM make it simple for a DIY'er or aftermarket company to provide solutions, at least for aux cabin heat. If the Scout were to have a "port" or blank flange in the floor, let's say a 6" diameter hole that went from...

What? I obviously missed something. But what can I say? I'm not from Richland County.

I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the clarification.

Consumer Freedom and Scout Motors in South Carolina

Thanks to @LastDayScout and fellow South Carolinians who have voiced their concerns for our antiquated state laws. I have received the email and responded with the automated link, however prior to the email, I had emailed my state senator who personally called me back and left voicemail saying...

    Removable Rear Seats

My 2001 Toyota Sequoia has removable third row seats that I rarely put in due to the space and extra weight of the vehicle. There are no bolts, they simply latch into the bed of the truck. They can fold down but not flat. The newer Sequoias have fold flat which honestly take up a lot of cargo...

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

Yeah, but Elon didn't put his plant in the SC governor's backyard nor did he invite him to the Tesla reveal. Holding my breath...starting NOW!!! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I also plan to take delivery at the SM facility in SC. Let's hope things get worked out by then.

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

As I understand it South Carolina law currently bans direct car sales. (ref. https://www.statehousereport.com/2022/09/02/big-story-effort-to-break-direct-car-sale-ban-stalls-at-statehouse/) Did I miss something elsewhere in the forums about this? I know SM vision is for direct sales so maybe...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

You're absolutely right, I would use the heat pump most all the time. The parking heater would only be for those needing overnight heating and/or for extreme cold to conserve the Scout's battery. As for the space, it's all about choices when deciding on what is "needed" for your adventure...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Realize this has nothing to do with power generation nor any part of the drive train. Its sole purpose is for heat. Google "diesel heater" or "parking heater". It would provide dry heat for the cab without the moisture build up like a propane heater and without heavy drain on the battery...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Diesel parking heater ports/turret. Reference my post Diesel heater / range extender

    Diesel heater / range extender

This may be a dead subject, but what about a provision for self installed diesel parking heater. I am not sure if this is the same as the "generator heater" suggested above. The Chinese parking heaters are becoming more popular and are inexpensive, compact and lightweight (less than 15 pounds)...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

It's been talked about since before 1980. A few more years with hopes turning into reality, shouldn't be a problem!

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

It is interesting to read the different reactions since the reveal, especially the first impressions. Both the Traveler and the Terra are awesome looking inside and out. My initial response was that the they should have come with round headlights to fully recognize the Scout's heritage. However...
