  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Suggestion: Autonomous Driving Mode

VW already has a decent suite of driver assist features. I suspect Rivan does as well. IMHO not offering existing tech this point is just throwing away sales. Developing tech is expensive. Implementing existing tech is not nearly as much. Throwing away existing tech - I just can not imagine...

Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

Watched the video a few weeks ago, but have been busy and not spending much time here. Lots of things led to the trip from hell. First problem is the base range of the Buzz. I was super excited about it early on when the concept was being released. I think a lot of commentators thought it...

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

The largest population areas in Texas are easy. Corpus and El Paso are the outliers. El Paso will probably get service out of New Mexico - as they really think they are more part of New Mexico than Texas. Corpus - well Corpus is probably going to be left out (maybe San Antonio is within 3 hrs...

    Optional Dog Accommodations in Traveler

I use Dirty Dog - a heavy webbing strap... I guess OEM metal would be nicer, but aftermarket does a fairly good job.

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

I guess a lot depends on just how far between significant markets that they are willing to go. 3hrs is a long way (but I seem to recall something like that mentioned. If they decide to stretch it to 3hrs in Texas (I think I read that Texas is only second to California in reservation numbers)...

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

1 - perhaps, but honestly - an ICE mini van would work just as well to this group, perhaps better. I went from an SUV to a mini-van, love the mini-van - especially for trips, but also for kid dumps at school. 2 - I would say this is a no-brainer, but a LOT of mini-van owners like to use them on...

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

This was their concept - about the same length, 270 mile range (at least on this article). This is a more current picture I guess it is mostly my fault - I did not look for the production limitations that concept vehicle. The fit of the panels was too tight. The front end being 2 pieces...

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

I was really interested in the VW Buzz when it was in concept stage. I have -0- interest in it now. Add 20%, not like I can get any less interest. To me it was a swing, miss, stumble, and broken ankle. It was a tease, and then a complete and utter, well not disappointment, sever frustration...

    Accessories Poll For Scouts

There are a lot of things I want, but in general I would probably prefer to handle with aftermarket parts. So my first would be working with aftermarket providers. I will want an aftermarket front off road bumper with bull bar. But aftermarket can give a lot of options here. I will probably...

what's this in bed of Terra

My only issue is weather or not it will work with the hundreds of companies and thousands of products that are currently using the mollie style spacing. Innovation and unique styling is great - but innovation simply to lock you into one brand of product is not so great. Related, but not quite...

    leasing

Generally I don't like leases. Seen too many implode I guess. Depending on the fine print, perhaps they are attractive to people who flip cars every 3 years - I tend to go closer to 15. Likewise, I don't know if leases were a way to get around credit limitations. A lot of EV buyers have too...

    Locking Differentials Question

My memory - OEM tends to be rear or all. There is a lot of discussions online when and where what is best. Allowing front only is not hard to do, just an extra switch - but I think OEM avoids it because it means your front locker/axle needs to be able to stand more abuse. Real issue is there...

    Super Bowl Commercial?

Honestly, I don't see the need to spend huge amounts in advertising before a product is ready for sale. In a perfect world, the product should advertise itself.

what's this in bed of Terra

They might work like mollie panels - but they are avoiding the look (and honestly, I seriously doubt it will work like mollie panels). Mollie is a woven "Pouch Attachment Ladder System". Both sides have 25mm straps (let's say horizontal, with 25mm spaces between the straps), stitched to the...

Scout Motors - who are your competitors?

Will need to see it. 4runner is 4" narrower, and 5" less tall. Length is spot on. Not to mention that the 4runninger almost certainly going to be MUCH lighter. That said, the 4runner uses it's width better than Wranglers and Broncos. My Tacoma is Gen 1, so considerably smaller than the...

Scout Motors - who are your competitors?

Scout Length Without Spare Wheel Carrier: 190.9 in Width Without Mirrors: 79.9 in Width With Mirrors: 91.6 in Max Height: 76.3 in Wheelbase: 120.4 in Tahoe 211″ L x 81″ W x 76-77″ H, 120.9 wheelbase. Tahoe's were originally 2 row, with a decent amount of space behind the rear seat. The Scout...

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

Lots of economics involved. Tesla Cybertruck is currently limited to production capacity rather than demand. Last I read that was limited to battery production. They had planned on using a dry process battery, and after years of trying to get it to work, they recently retooled. Rivian is...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

lidar and AI might work. NV and the human mind might not. A deer (or many other animals) have natural camouflage. I have had thermal and NV in hand - deer were completely standing out with thermal, and invisible with NV. Human mind would probably see them when they move - but sometimes that...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Came home from a long night drive this morning (6hr drive in darkness). I hate to think about paying for it, but one tech option that might be nice (and honestly, will probably be mandatory in 5 years) will be some sort of thermal collision avoidance. OMG the number of deer that wanted to...
