  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

For Tesla at least when you pick up your car a showroom rep shows you some basic features. There’s also some how to videos on your Tesla app. But folks post questions on forums or a local member will meet with the owner and help. But when well designed most features are intuitive.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Agree. I’m pretty darn good at knowing when (distance to desired stopping point) to let off of pedal to have regen come to a nice, smooth stop. In both EVs I’ve never had to change brake pads…yet another expense I get to avoid…that’s probably the most practical reason to master 1p.

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

It would surprise me if Scout’s nav system didn’t have option to show chargers and add as waypoint. PlugShare is about the best app for plugs…read reviews and leave reviews! ABRP isn’t too bad for route planning when I’m too lazy to go down to car but I usually have to use it in conjunction...

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

Agree. Including a mobile charging kit (with J1772 and a good old fashioned house plug) would be best use of funds. Everyone can use that.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

“Heart of Joy” though? Brings to mind the Titanic and Celine Dion…lol.

VW, Audi dealers file suit in Florida to block Scout Motors’ direct sales to state consumers

I wonder what kind of leverage VW has with dealers. Eg, if they can pick and choose which dealers get better pricing on their VWs and Audis. No idea how any of this works but if I was a dealer I don’t know that I’d take risks with my current cash cows. I might try to negotiate to get...

Consumer Freedom and Scout Motors in South Carolina

It’s disappointing but luckily Tesla and Rivian have figured this out. The money gets sent to Nevada or California, etc., and the truck gets put on a rail car. Hopefully this could mean a delivery/service center in western Minnesota. I had looked forward to visiting and enjoying the BBQ.

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

We are in the same climate! North Dakota here…warmed up to 9F from our recent run of -20F, lol. I can adjust Lucy’s headlight placement…it’s a setting in the car- intended when a headlight is replaced I think but in your case you could adjust for your hill climb. The disco ball is my #1...

    South Carolina Bill- H. 3777

I’d imagine a fair amount of the profit is made in servicing the vehicles.

Consumer Freedom and Scout Motors in South Carolina

Hi! What non profits, specifically? I’m curious to what you’re referring to. I don’t live in SC but I have bought two vehicles DTC in states that also don’t allow it. So one vehicle I paid for by sending the money to California and then the car shipped to my home state. The second time I...

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

There isn’t a starter battery…there is a 12v for some accessory tasks but no starter battery. My car will guess whether I want to go forward to reverse. I just tap accelerator or, if car has guessed wrong, I swipe the left side of my screen (up or down depending on whether I want forward or...

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

It complicates Bills of Material to a crazy degree though. And manufacturing gets more complex when one machine has AC, embossed seat, satellite radio and the next has heated seats, no radio, etc, etc. You can end up with thousands of configurations. And predicting how many radio vs no radio...

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

I know a lot of people like heads up displays but I find them distracting and annoying…but as long as I can turn it off I’m okay with you getting yours, lol:). The low/high beam thing is interesting. I do love my current car but what annoys the crap out of me is that I have no way of manually...

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

I don’t know if Scout will be the same as Tesla but I’d had a reservation for a Model 3 pre production. When I got my email to configure I chose my color and wheel size, then uploaded drivers license, insurance, and checked a box on how I was paying. I don’t remember the time span now…maybe two...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Yeah, I’m seriously considering a bumper sticker that says “I bought the car before he was like this”.

The Price Gap Between EVs And ICE Cars Is Shrinking Fast

Right? I usually whip out the per mile energy cost when folks doubt…my home electricity in my garage is 4.1 cents/kw. I actually see about 3 miles /kWh. So, being generous, about a $0.02/mile. If you have a car getting 30mpg and gas is $3/gallon that works out to $0.10/mile. It adds up!

Did Your City Receive 2025 Grant Funds To Build Charging and Refueling Infrastructure?

In North Dakota the funds were meant to install chargers on the I94 (East-West) corridor. But with all that’s going on I don’t know if it’ll happen now. Bathrooms and snacks are always fond stops, lol, but yeah, on freeways. Make the most of your stop. Parks and similar are good destination...
