  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I will say I like the Rivian Blue, but that one is a bit too bright for me

What would you be willing to pay for a paint color?

This would irritate me greatly, especially since this is a direct to consumer model it's not like the colors are truly locked behind dealer availability. And if there's nothing I really like I'll probably go for a 0$ color and take it to a paint shop!

Scout’s instagram post today just being a door handle was really funny given recent news. Great stuff Jamie.

    EREV initial release only?

    AMEN!!!

    EREV initial release only?

Personally I’m willing to wait to get exactly what I want. It’s not every day you get to configure the modern version of your childhood dream car and not be confined to “what’s on the lot.”

I hope so! It was a tough lookup since IH has changed hands more than once and there's not really a direct mapping for if Electrall is considered abandoned or where the ownership lies between companies/parents

But think of the poor dealers! Nobody is buying the cars they are marking up and dragging their feet to provide service and support for 😢😢😢

    EREV initial release only?

We've also had good luck extending a lease on a car when the timing didn't exactly match up.

    EREV initial release only?

I think its important to note that its probably not an either/or situation. It's about optimizing the factory and production lines to deliver the most vehicles with minimal disruptions.

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

If this happened I would absolutely feel a way about it! Doubling the range and charging in half the time in 2 years is a major leap! It's a much bigger timeframe, but that's almost exactly what you're looking at when you compare a Model S from 2012 to present. Larger battery, huge range jump...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

I wouldn't use the word concern, but I definitely consider deprecation when buying a vehicle. No matter how much I love a car, at some point I'm going to move on to something different, and there's always hope to at least recoup some degree of the cost when that time comes. In an ideal world...

Really great episode. I loved the connective tissue Jamie and Brian were able to pull out to show that the entire premise behind Scout Motors leans so strongly into community and legacy instead of just "leveraging a brand name to sell cars" Really doing a good job convincing me to switch back...

I can guarantee you the exterior of that vehicle is going to be hideous. Which is unfortunate!

This article is titled as a hit piece but goes on to show that Scout/VW increased their investment as the scope of the project increased? And the scrutiny is the previously-discussed shortsightedness of SC government.
